That video makes it seem like the exhaust sound was dubbed into the clip... I'll hold judgement for additional videos.

Ferrari has been using their 3.9L V8 TT (with FPC like all Ferrari’s) since 2014 starting with the California T. Then that engine trickled into the 488GTB to replace the NA 458 Italia. They’ve been using iterations of the same 3.9 in every new Ferrari with a V8. We can even go as far back as the Ferrari F40 in the 80’s with the F154 twin-turbo flat plane 2.9L V8.

McLaren had their 3.8 twin turbo FPC V8 back in 2011 with the MP4-12C. That engine has since evolved into the 4.0L in the 720S, Senna, etc.

So nothing new with small displacement twin turbo FPC V8’s. They’ve been used pretty commonly for nearly a decade on supercars. It’s just that these Euro regulations have destroyed the entertaining aural aspect of these amazing modern engines 😢

This cars biggest problem is going to be the price and the other offerings out there in the same ball park. It's a nasty car no doubt. But I feel like if I had the money for something like this I'd buy it, toss it into my garage or a living space as a show piece, and then sell it in 10 years with 12 miles on it and double my money. IMO if you put something like this on the track you are an idiot.

440 might bring 800 or more in a few years? As they do historically?

Great news for the W206 C63s. AMG just showed they are not afraid to kick their biggest money maker in the nuts, i.e the sound department. Get the w205 before they become a dinosaur.

We are probably coming to the end of the greatest run of AMGs since its beginning. All lawnmower engines going forward. How will the amg owners make fun of the civics now?

These cars are investment pieces (unfortunately). For the lucky that are selected and given the opportunity to purchase a Black Series at MSRP, you are almost certainly guaranteed to see the values appreciate and sky rocket.

I don’t love this car, but if AMG let me buy one I would just to make an easy 2-300k profit it a couple years.

Exactly. A few might hit the streets but I'm willing to bet most people who buy them end up offloading them in a decade or so with under 100 miles on the clock.

Ordered one yesterday in the color "AMG Magmabeam" which looks like a brighter Lava Orange on a 3 RS. I'm very disappointed in the weight which is 3,616 pounds which is only a 34 pound weight savings over a standard GTR. Also not happy about the lightweight glass in the front windshield. For whatever minimal pounds weight reduction this is since the car is already a porker to me is a disadvantage. It will make it more difficult (availability?) and costly for a windshield replacement. Would have been better to be the same as all the other GT cars. I'm still trying to find out if I can get orange seat belts and if there will be an orange stripe in the middle of the seat like the ones in the youtube videos. I will drive the heck out of this car like I do on my other cars. No garage queen here.

I still don’t get why we don’t get the bucket seats here in the US. Yes, I know it’s because they consider Americans fat, but for a car like this to still not offer it as an option at least? Still blows my mind at some of Mercedes option offerings in certain countries. They made some similar strange choices for the Pro’s as well.

Based on past experience, the reason bucket seats can't be sold in the USA is because they generally don't have side airbags. Can't legally sell them if they don't have side airbags. Car won't be road legal.

Pardon my nativity. I honestly had no clue that side impact airbags were standard now on all cars. Good to know and it’s just something I’ve never actively thought about having own mostly Mercedes products which always included them, but interesting to know they are standard here and not in Europe.

Thanks for the info!

So actually to be specific. The SABs are not required by law, but the NHTSA has issued more stringent regulations for protecting occupants in side collisions w/o mandating specific technologies. The SABs are essential to meeting those regulations, so rather than the SABs to be specifically required by law, they are unlikely to pass crash test requirements w/o them, but technically AMG could come up with different ways to meet those requirements in the USA and offer the bucket seats, but it's probably not worth the effort.

Not for me

I am on the list for this one having bought 6 previous AMG s. Presently driving a 2019 GT 63S 4 door and a2020 G63. Very disapointed with the black series. Dont like the goofy double wing that reminds me of a painters scaffold. The 0-60 is reportedly only equal to my GT 63S at best with some reports coming in slower. I would be buying as a weekend toy with maybe some track time going forward. Yeah I get it that the powerband is directed at the medium/top end but I dont plan on going 202 mph. A middle ground setup with a 2.5-2.7 0-60 was my hope but it just aint happening. Too muck weight. I am also very sad about the new Ford Pinto exhaust notes coming from the new AMG offerings. Im sure this one will follow suit. IMO this is the least exciting black series ever given the time period. I think I see another Porsche in my crystal ball. I know the haters will be on me like white on rice but this is how I see it Sad very sad. A swing and a miss

Also sounds like this one isn't gonna be limited by quantity, but limited by time. No word yet on how many MYs are planned, but given where we are in the GT lifecycle having just been facelifted, chances are they'll gonna make it till the end of the current GT generation. Anybody who really wants one, can probably get one as long as there aren't more orders than production capacity. Daimler sure can use the money after the $2B they just lost in Q2.

Some here said 440K which I think there is no way. I was led to believe a 280K base. This is a quote from another guy who ordered one on the GT forum: "Was told to expect the base between $250k-$260K in US, significantly lower then ROW."

no disrespect

I dont mean to rain on anyones parade who is buying one of these. Obviously it is a waycool ride under all circumstances even if it does not work for me. I waited years fo this car and passed up deals in order to do so. I am a stoplight racer and was really looking forward to an AMG that wouod shatter the 3 sec 0-60 mark. This car looks like it would be an absolute blast on a long track like Road Atlanta Unfortunately I seroiusly doubt if any signifigant number of these cars ever see any serious track work other than factory promos and car publication testing. Frankly i dont see any new offerings from AMG that gets my attention The priject one is beyond my means. The proposed GT 73 will be hybrid based and I hate electric stuff. It looks like the bad assed loud rumbling tire smoking AMG V8s days are seriously numbered. I find it totally sickening. It looks like AMG could come up with an American market fix for these new muted exhaust configurations. I guess I will look at a Rentech mod for my GT63S instead of the BS.Im hearing some wild tales about the results ftom these mods. if u are one of the lucky few who will own one of these cars enjoy it. Congrats I guess i will keep looking
