Car has 8,000 miles and has been babied and is flawless. It had never even been driven in rain. Doug Sawyer can attest and said he thought the bottom of my car was cleaner than when they leave the factory in Germany new. I'll take some pics tonight. Not sure how good I'll be able to get blades but I'll do the best I can. BTW, waste gates are transferred to upgraded turbos.

Thanks, not so concerned about the cleanliness of the vehicle they are coming off of ... but more so condition of turbo internals. To that end, how much boost you are running on the factory turbos , what other mods you had at the time , etc.

Might be worth posting serial numbers as there appears to be different ones.

Why would the same person who babies their car also upgrade the stock turbos? Something seems off

Why does everyone have to be so cynical. Because I enjoy the process of planning and modifying my car if thats okay with you. Come look at my car and see if you can find a flaw anywhere.

Ok maybe we have different interpretations of "babied". I was taking that as meaning never driven hard, which I find hard to believe for someone upgrading turbos. I have no doubt you've taken care of it.
What are the new turbos like anyway?

There’s a very easy way to gauge the general health a turbo. Besides the obvious compressor and turbine fins (no chips or bends), you can grab wiggle the compressor wheel nut gently to see if there’s shaft play. If there’s a lot of shaft play when moving back and forth, that’s a good indicator the bearings/CHRA might be on its way out. If there’s little to no shaft play, you’re good. You can also look for other signs like excessive oil in the turbo.

You guys are being way too paranoid about the sale of these stock turbos. I’ve literally sold 4 sets of turbos and not a single person responded like this questioning the health/condition of the turbos.

You probably right...what do people do with Stock turbo's? Use as core for turbo upgrades (pure, weistec...)?

Thanks AlexZTuned. To be honest, I could care less if I sell these stock turbo's. They'll just sit on the shelve and if someone wanted to do a hybrid upgrade and still keep their stock turbo's, I would have sold them. If not no worries.

Hey I have a spare C63S turbo that I have displayed in my man cave...

And yes people purchased my stockers mostly for core replacements to upgrade (so they can keep their originals).

it was like this ...either buy them or don't ..... Who cares how hard they were driven ....turbo's have a maximum impeller speed and more than likely it never even came close as the factory would never have allowed that close of a limit .You can see in the pictures that the impeller never touched off against the inner wall which would of indicated a shaft or bearing issue .....

So what your trying to say is "there is no way to damage a STOCK turbo ?? " because I know plenty of people that can over boost that thing in a heartbeat. Just trying to understand your point of view...

I think he means overboosting a stock turbo on stock software. Very unlikely to pop one in that scenario unless it has a ton of miles on it and the bearings are worn from age. There aren’t many ways to overspin a turbo on stock software... a boost leak perhaps, but the ECU would likely see the discrepancy in requested/demanded boost between bank 1 and 2 and throw a CEL.

Either way, these are sold now and personally this set looked like a nice clean low-ish miles example. More than good enough for cores to upgrade or throw them on if you have a busted turbo (which at that point, why not just rebuild your own stock ones with new CHRA’s?).

Hey Alex, yea I agree , but I guess that is what confused me, as the OP never mentioned he wasnt tuned, I thought he actually was, more so since he upgraded to 900's. .. but was just making sure :-)
