What type of shop do I go to to blackout the mb star and exterior chrome lettering?

just replace them - cheaper and looks perfect.

 

Difficult to do? Any special tools required?

 

nothing unusual...heat it up, use fishing line, peel off, clean, apply new. The star is screwed in (depends if you have coupe or sedan, its attached differently). For sedan, need to remove the trunk liner and there is a screw holding it in.

To makes things much easier, order an eraser wheel off eBay, will save you tons of time from removing the adhesive.

 

Maybe not plastidip but I had a company do all mine in spray vinyl. It's essentially a product similar to plastidip that is sprayed on with a paint gun, but goes on perfectly smooth and glossy. After a few different methods on previous cars this is how ill always do it going forward as the emblems don't need to be removed and it can be pulled off just like wrap or plastidip.

 

How about a debadge?

 

On the 2020 C63S model where the rear camera tilts, the rear star is held on only by tape. No screws. I had PPF and ceramic done to mine right after I took possession of it. While it was in the shop, I found/bought all new gloss black decals. The trick was to find a rear star that came with dbl-sided tape that fits down into the hollow area of the star.
