Standby Mode Function

I’ve been trying to activate the standby mode function for my 2019 AMG c63s coupe. I'm unable to select yes to activate in the vehicle settings menu. Can someone please post a quick video on how to do it? I couldn't find any on the internet. If you have any comments or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Don't have a video, but it works exactly as described in the owner's manual. Don't think a video is necessary. What do you mean with you are unable to select yes? Do you get the prompt, but then the yes button doesn't work, or you don't get a prompt at all? The only thing really required is that ignition is on (press start/stop button twice w/o foot on the brake), and once activated turn the ignition off. That's not made clear in the instructions. Don't turn the ignition back on afterwards, otherwise the standby mode is deactivated and you have to reactivate it again.

A question concerning Standby Mode. With the combination of Covid and bitterly wicked weather in the US Midwest, my 2020 E450 is sitting in the garage. I, too, see the status "Starter Battery Partially Charged" when I look at Service on the Mercedes me connect app.

Looks as if putting the e450 into Standby Mode turns off a lot of the monitoring electronics; not to worry since I park the car in a locked garage at home. So is there any downside to putting the car into Standby Mode?

Yes, Standby Mode turns everything off and the app will no longer get updated status information, so what you see in the app is stale information. I suppose one downside is that you won't get battery alerts in case it goes critically low. Partially charged is perfectly normal. My app has been showing that for a while now. I do still drive it, but not every day as before the pandemic. If I go for an hour plus drive it will show charged, but eventually it goes back to partially charged. If the battery charge goes critical, I get an alert on my phone, so I can go drive it to charge the battery. Hasn't happend yet while it was sitting in my garage and not in Standby Mode, but it has happened while the car was in for extended service.

Hello,

Is this function available for pre-facelift models?

Not to my knowledge. There's no mention of it in the owner's manual. Also as far as I know the PFL doesn't have notifications, so you don't get an alert if the battery is low or you forgot to lock the car etc. That's all new functionality part of the Mercedes me connect platform that replaced mBrace.

I used Standby Mode once in a while while my car is not driven so often. I noticed that if I wait too long and the battery is low in charge, a message comes up that says the battery charge is not sufficient to use Standby Mode which is fair.

Couple weeks ago I got CTEK 5.0 Trickle Charger based on all the reviews and discussions here that it is the best and it worked great since after charging the battery under AGM, Recondition Mode charging it for couple days; it got fully charged and was able to place my 2018 W213 in standby Mode and I got the famous display message estimating the duration the car can stay parked for 28 weeks !!.

So I drove the car earlier this week; and tried to place it back to Standby Mode; but now it is greyed out and the check box can't be select, while a message says "System Inoperative" Any idea what "system inoperative" means for Standby Mode? Why last week it was working right after it was charged and now it is "inoperative" whatever that mean. Is there a fuse that blew, or a reset needed somewhere? Nothing about "Standby Mode System Inoperative" exists in the Manual or online.

Any idea what could be the issue? and If the battery is shot, would it be covered under warranty?

Detach ground line in an attempt to reset, see attachment if reluctant to have it checked by dealer under warranty.

Update to my problem that was fixed by updating the ignition module as the first step. Than the message changed to battery too low that is the typical when the battery is low which I don't recall the verbatim of that message but it is normal when the battery is low. Second step, the dealer charged the battery but the message didn't go away. They performed short test of the battery and it passed. However; I insisted that something is wrong with the battery since even if it is only 3 years old, I previously used the stand-by mode without issues. They ran another detailed battery test and found out that the battery had some bad cell inside and doesn't hold the charge. After they replaced the battery my problem got solved and its been fine for about a year now.

A week is good enough reason to activate it as the car constantly ping with Mercedes Me's servers (for remote control functions) which drains battery if standby mode isn't activated , just make sure the car is secured and no public access as anti-theft (probably already mentioned) is disabled).

I'm only activating it if I go away for two weeks or more. Probably wouldn't be necessary for two weeks, but just in case. It tells you how long you can leave the car, which is a good way to gauge the state of charge. I know that with a full battery I get 21 weeks, so based on how many weeks it shows I know what the state of charge is, and so I can decide to activate it or not.

Mine says I get 13 weeks, I did activate it anyway just in case…
