C63S FL Tune — ECU only vs ECU/TCU/CPC?
My car is at the shop getting GESI catted downpipes installed and while it was there I figured i could find out about getting it tuned. As it turns out, this car has some extra electronics so a “full tune” runs significantly more expensive than a typical ECU remap. For around $1500, I’m told an ECU-only tune will be limited to ~650ft-lb of torque; unlocking the CPC is necessary for any more. My understanding is that the TCU tune requires the unlocked CPC as well. The whole shebang pumps that cost to the neighborhood of $4700, and my car might make an extra... 30-50 WHP/WTQ or so?
From what I’m hearing it sounds like unlocking the CPC is a matter of diminishing returns, but I don’t know enough to say that for sure. Has anyone done the ECU-only tune on these cars? Or done them at different times? What have your experiences been like with tuning the facelift cars?
