Anyone order their car from a car broker?

Anyone order their car from a car broker?
I have a local car broker that I was recommended to from a friend who has used this person for his 8 series BMW. I have not used him myself but I did refer him to a friend who needed an MB GLE 400 in a specific color with the light package. No one locally had that so we turned to him. He was able to locate one out of state and come up with a great lease deal even with shipping costs. My thoughts of using him to order a C63s would be two-fold. One being that he will definitely save me a few thousand dollars and more importantly, possibly be able to use a dealer build slot (if that is a correct term) that is in the system already to enable me to get the car quicker. The later reason is my thought. I have not yet asked him if he could speed up the process.
Has anyone used a broker to order their C63s? Obviously it would be a specific build with the options I want. Is it better to order thru a dealership if I want a specific build configuration?

I understand your logic but they do save you money from being able to buy the car cheaper and there are no dealer fees. The bigger brokers do have good relationships with many car dealers.

Yeah but you're paying a guy to buy you a car: seems odd to me.....how much would actually be saved is my question. Shoot, if the savings were really good it may be a good move.

I would think you could order a car pretty easily from a dealer but you would probably pay MSRP for it.

I have talked with brokers before, and in my limited experience (I've talked to them twice about two diff cars, and didn't use them both times), they can get wholesale pricing on existing inventory, but couldn't help me with special orders.

Getting a car from the lot through a broker actually makes sense, ordering one definitely not. You will have more luck finding a dealer who’s willing to get a car for you.

I don't know what their fees are. I am going to talk to them today and find everything out. I will know what the MSRP numbers are and I can work off of that. I'm interested in % off MSRP and order time.

My understanding is that brokers are simply professional negotiators who have contacts in various dealerships and know how much room dealerships actually have to move on the price. They can potentially get a better deal than average Joe just walking into the dealership trying to negotiate a price. Some brokers get commissions from the dealerships, because they are bringing in customers, so they also have more leverage than an individual who is only buying one car. But as far as I know, they mostly work with cars bought off the lot. They are basically doing a national search for you and deal with the dealerships, so you don't have to. As many people dread going to dealerships and getting bent over, these brokers have carved out a business of finding the right car at the right price for you. But I also think they won't be able to help you with a custom order.

UPDATE: I spoke to the broker this morning and asked the question about getting a dealer to use one of their build orders. He laughed and said, they will tell you they will and give you any excuse they can to tell you the car is delayed. In other words, it's a 3-4 month wait. He DOES order cars for clients. Yes he's does a lot of business with on the lot units, but he will go the order route if the customer wants. I will contact him in the next few days with my build and get a price. He has a lot of clients in my community so I feel comfortable. I'm not looking to save just on the dealers fees. If it is a 2-3k savings, he has my interest.....
BTW: MB has the 2021 C63s build configurator on the MBUSA.com website. But, no pricing yet......

I’m not saying that this is a bad idea or not to use a broker but you are paying a middleman here and he or she is making money off you. Whether or not you could do as well depends on your negotiating skills and how much time you’re willing to invest in the process. Ultimately I look at car buying as a compromise. How much am I willing to compromise in time, money, and options vs what I want.

Know your numbers before going to a dealership. As long as I know the dealership wants my money more than I want their car, I'm in a great position. But, don't lose a deal over a few dollars and don't let your emotions cause you to make a bad deal. Maybe I'm a little (or a lot) crazy but I really enjoy buying cars.
I don't know how much or if I will be saving money going to a broker. I will find out in a few days. My first choice would be doing business with the dealership.
I DO appreciate all of the input that members have been posting...

I used a broker in California. I had a personal connection with them before they launched the brokerage so I was their first client. They specifically had experience working at MB which is why I used them for my 2020 c63s sedan. Their fee was minimal and they were able to negotiate the entire deal for me. I saved more then they cost me as I went and shopped the car on my own before using them. They also pushed through the lease deal after the dealer had issues with my MB financing application. A broker is great if you want someone else to negotiate and handle the deal for you. They do know the ins and outs of how to work the system for the best deal. Plus they can find inventory for you vs endless dealer searches. Really depends on how comfortable you are negotiating a car purchase or how stressful you find the process. I was happy with my experience.

Someone I know has been trying to get a broker to order a 2021 c63s but failed miserably they kept giving him the run around and never got the car ordered. He had been going back and forth for months. Now the allocations are closed and he is stuck trying to find one that's going to be on the lot. I don't recommend brokers cause its just another person added to an already uninformed situation. Trying to get a custom order through broker is also harder because the dealership won't take them up first as they will allocate their builds for themselves or walk in customers. The dealerships won't give discounts to them either and your chances of getting a good discount is very unlikely because you add another party to the mix that needs to make a profit too which they will take from any margin they give up. Brokers are only good for used cars & ones that are already on the lot but not selling as well.
Whatever you decide to do good luck, I personally believe you should get all your information & knowledge together and just go into a few dealerships and see which one will do business with you & take you seriously, I would also check on allocations I believe they have stopped taking orders for the 2021 w205 model at least for the sedans. You can still get a coupe but that window is closing very soon too. You will only be able to allocate for the next gen w206 model.
