Did anyone face any warranty hurdles for secondary cat delete?

I promised myself when I got this car that I will keep it bone stock except for just some exhaust mods cause I plan to keep this car for a long time. So I will probably end up buying the extended warranty as well.

I did power mods to my C43 and I never enjoyed the experience because I had to avoid going to Mercedes for all other non powertrain issues with the car. If I have an interior rattle, I want to be able to take the car in without the fear of getting the car flagged.

The only thing I am doing is getting the Rentech EVM Module and the secondary cat delete. If this only voids the exhaust warranty, I am completely fine with that. But if it affects the powertrain warranty, I rather live with this muted exhaust.

My warranty was voided by MB because of my 200 cell catted downpipes. All depends on how much of a d-bag your dealership/service advisor decides to be.

Wow really eh? Like the entire powertrain warranty? Did you have a tune or were you stock?

Bone stock except for the catted downpipes. They refused to perform any additional warranty work on my engine/drivetrain after a "good will" repair which happened to be on the last remaining day of my factory warranty. They made a stink about it to MB NA and made a easy fix (one fouled spark plug misfiring) into a clusterF, blaming it on my catted downpipes and calling it an "alteration". They swapped the pugs around (didn't bother replacing any), which was a complete waste of time.

I bought a set of plugs for $85 and spent 2 hours on a weekend myself swapping out all 8 plugs - low and behold, my misfire issue is fixed (after the dealer had it in three times for diagnostic).

That is just pure incompetence right there. Unreal. This is exactly why I decided to keep this car as stock as you can possibly keep it. But I have no idea how will they spin a secondary cat delete into an "alteration".

You can try to find OEM 2017-2018 DP and replace yours. I think it should do the trick, I wanted to go this route but decided to get catted dp instead. I liked how pre-f cars sounded and wouldn't change DP on my car if it had exhaust sound like the pre-f.

Haha yeah that can do it. Or another trick is to gut the secondary cat. But the problem with gutting is that it creates a hollow empty can with a lot of space which can cause a lot of turbulence as the exhaust exits the empty can, which can affect performance. So after you gut the secondary cat, you have to weld a straight pipe inside the canister as not to affect performance. I can go this route but man will it be a pain in the butt to do it right. Cutting and replacing it with a straight pipe sounds so much simpler.

Tipping isn’t needed. I had my C63 serviced at three different dealerships - two were fantastic, the last one (major dealer for the city) was nothing but trouble. Incompetence in their ability to properly diagnose (I had my car in 4 times over 2 months at this one dealer), and unwillingness to compromise.

I’ll put the dealership on blast since my factory warranty expired back in October - Mercedes of Austin. Avoid them at ALL COSTS. The other 2 dealerships I had my car serviced at was exceptional - Mercedes of Boston and Mercedes of Georgetown.

I asked the shop foreman in the dealership I bought the car from. He said it depends on the dealership, some wouldn't bother you at all if you do not claim warranty on any exhaust component. But he said, there are some dealerships who are super strict and would flag the car for literally having any mod on it.
