Tune Recommendations
Id like to hear more about Renntech.
I come from the world of Cobb tuning where plug and play is super simple. It seems the MB is a little more challenging to tune as far as sending ECU in or doing complex install under the hood.
Renntech seems to be the only one I found that is truly plug and play with a hand held device.
Am I incorrect in saying this? I am new to this world.
I'm guessing price is the deterring factor for some, but it seems the convenience is worth the money.
Any thoughts?
They seem reputable. I'm leaning toward picking up there HHT tune for my 2019 c63s for Xmas.

RennTech is a solid company, that owns its name and doesn't "franchise" out.. some other tuners like a EuroCharged , is a franchise model, so you get different experiences at different locations etc etc.
I have a 16' c63s with a Renntech Stage 2, and is easy peasy .. super simple to install, either to load new program, or to put back to stock.
Simple...
You will get almost all tuners saying they can do a HHT , since its basically a loaded file (for Stage 1 and some 2) that is the same base file across the board.

My money would be on them too, or the PTG tune which I’ve read nothing but positive reviews on. The only thing holding me back is the car is still so new. You’re not concerned about possibly voiding your warranty this early on?
I'm on the same boat. Would love to do catted downpipes and a tune but a voided warranty is a concern - especially very early on into ownership.
I think that's why I am leaning toward keeping it stock besides BMC filters and Renntech Tune. I spoke to Renntech over the phone and it really seems that simple. Stock tune and renntech tune both loaded. Plug and play within 90 seconds. Once you revert back to stock tune, apparently its untraceable.
Also, reputable shop. Long time AMG tuners. They also have an intermediate tune for those that want to keep it more "low key" yet still want more.
Renntech for me.

Renntech vs JB4
Well, I did a roll race event today, 1/3 mile from 65. Same event I did in 2019 with the JB4 installed.
On the JB4 I got dead consistent runs of 130.1 - 130.4 mph each time, until it threw a misfire and ended my day limping around the track like a schmuck.
Today on the Renntech Stage 1, I consistently hit 140-141 mph. And zero issues with CELs or misfires etc. Rock solid.
A 10-11 mph jump up at those speeds in a 1/3 mile is NO JOKE. Just shows how good the Renntech is, though.

Good question, but no I'm not. I don't track the car but I do enjoy a spirited drive. I wouldn't expect any issues with Renntech, and if there were, I strongly believe they would back it. I've spoken to them via phone, they are quite reassuring that their testing and development has vetted any possible issues. I'm also not planning to do anything but stage one tune - which as you know is not a big change for this engine since MB has it offered in this spec and much higher straight from the factory.

Even with slightly modified OEM components I would argue that the 4.0 V8 (in various factory HP & torque applications) is in essence "the same" engine tuned to produce different specs. My understanding being that a stage 1 tune to ~615 HP isn't going to be a problem for the OEM components -- Renntech wouldn't put their name on it that was the case.

The gtc has just 50 more hp than our cars and gets a dry sump oil system and bigger turbos. Amg could of easily added 2 lbs more boost but kept boost pressure same but put bigger turbos on it for top end.
The gtc also has different pistons with 9.5 compression ratio.

There is no free lunch. Bottle line your car is not going to be as reliable as the 630hp e63 and gt63. With any tune. If it were that easy Mercedes would just add 5 lbs more boost and going from 10.5 to 8.6 compression ratio is HUGE. Go ahead and try to run stock e63 boost and turbos on our high compression engine without lowering engine timing and see what happens.
The dry sump is nothing more than a nice track package for improved handling and larger oil quantity.

I did JB4. Install was tough-ish but it still only took me about 2.5 hours. This was working, getting sore hands on the two MAP sensors, walking away for a bit. Happy with it so far, love that I can log like on my F80 BM3 platform. Whenever I send them logs, I usually get responses back in under 6 hours. Right now I'm on map5 running e30 and dialing in the settings with the BMS help.
I've been interested in Kirklandhans (PTG) as well. But, I'm unable to find a website, dyne numbers etc. Not too keen on ordering blindly through IG. Any info here that I'm missing?
