18' C63s Trade for 17' GTS?

I just come from test driving a fully optioned 17 GTS with $18k miles. Nicely optioned (dealer says has all options but not sure what was available that year) including CF package, Carbon Ceramic brakes etc. Car is black on black, its a beauty.
Plus: intoxicating sound (I did not expect that much difference to the C class PE), great looks, good platform to put on personal touch
Minus: disappointing performance (my tuned C63 sedan is whole lot better) - I ask dealer to check it out if it has boost issues as I could not believe the difference to my tuned C63s, 2 seats (yeah, I do use my 4 seats at times), interior is meh (ok, but find the C more refined)

Anybody has first hand driving experience GTS vs C63s (tuned or not)? The GTS felt heavy/heavier, steering feel was completely different, kind of nervous touch, I could feel the engine weight and front axel much further out there than on our C-class, but can get used to it. I am not too familiar with what options the 2017's came with but I was missing race mode and HUD.

An opinions or experiences, let me know!

Another Plus to add to your list is the transmission being DCT.

Sounds like your gut is telling you that you like the C better

The GTS is a cool car though and sound and feel is special. But you probably right.

Something doesn't sound right. The GT S has Race mode. I only drove it on the track, back to back with the GT R. Very playful and tail happy even with ESP fully engaged. Ended up going partly sideways powering out of the first corner. Power is the same as the C63S. It's lighter, so it should feel a bit faster stock for stock. The GT R was another level, though. The GT is a great platform for the track, but I'm not sure I'm into it outside of the track. I find the C63S coupe a much better choice for road driving and everyday use.

I have test driven the GTS on several occations and found the seats to be very uncomfortable. Yes it is a cool looking car but as a daily driver, getting in and out of that car on a regular basis would not work for me. Just the length of the hood was another big question mark. The C63s provides a nice combination of looks (not as sexy as a GTS), sounds and performance in a much better tolerated daily driver. On another note, one of the GTS cars I test drove was a 2018 model. I literally could not wait to get out of the car because after only moderate acceleration, the sulphur smell from the cat. converter was overwhelming.

I believe only GTS with AMG Dynamic Package has Race mode, the one that has yellow/orange dials on the dashboard.

I didn't think so. The Dynamic Plus package specificially adds the dynamic engine mounts, which btw are standard on the C63S, and sharpens the chassis tuning.

Race mode is standard on AMG S models and above:

Agree, getting in was easier but getting out is another story. The foot well is deep and has a large step to the door to get out. The seats in the GTS were the same performance seats as I have in my C63s - so, no complaint here from me. I did not smell anything.

I looked around and did not find the race mode dial. The dial knob only had S/S+ and I...maybe somewhere else located in the GTS model?

Agree, I told the dealer they need to take a look at that GTS as it did not have the punch I am used to from my C63s. I assume something not quite right with that particular car. It did run and shift smooth, so no misfire or other obvious problems but like no proper boost. After my test drive and telling them it was "slow" they drove it later too and put it into the shop to see if something wrong - he did agree with me afterwards its not feeling as punchy as it should. So, will see. Once they figure out what is going on I will go back and drive it again, just to see what it was and should be.

I know they juggled around options and packages as they always do. Below is a 2017 GT S that from the pictures doesn't have the AMG Dynamic Plus package, but it has race mode on the dial. Are you sure it was a GT S and not a GT? The latter would also explain the lack of punch.
