Is it just me or are the PSS from factory are absolutely **** for launching the car. I am getting 0-60 around 4.97seconds. That is a second slower than my stock C43. The tires spin all the way to 3rd gear. How is Mercedes achieving the 4.0s 0-60 time?

well the c43 is AWD to start with... and since the c63 puts down more HP/TQ, it will spin easier and you need to adjust for that... and MB definitely didn't put tires on the car so you can drag race to best times ... :-) use the cup series or so, and depending on your setup, and other factors you can do solid runs..
No, it's not just you. The PSS was disappointing on this car. The PS4S is much better, but still a street tire. If you want ultimate grip get a set of the optional Cup 2. However, launching an RWD takes more skill and effort. The car won't do it all for you like AWD. Here are a couple of things you can play with.
Put the suspension in Comfort for more squat and weight to the rear, and lower your rear tire pressure
Lower the launch rpm. AMG Driving Academy instructor recommended 3200 instead of the default 3500
Heat up the tires first and lay down some rubber. Tires grip much better on a layer of their own material on the tarmac than the tarmac itself. That's why drag racers do a burnout first.
Do it on a warm day
Play with the traction control and find the right balance between wheel spin and traction

OP are you stock? I did some draggy runs a couple weeks ago prior to installing my tune and with the PSS's ran a 4.21 in sport+. After flashing a stage 1 tune best I could pull off was 4.6 as more power = less traction. I'll get it down as I play with the best launch set up but I'll also probably have different tires by then.
How's the weather in Toronto? Barely above 50F here in Seattle which means your summer tires still hate you. Summer tires like summer weather for traction my dude.
Fill up with a full tank of gas. You’ll be surprised how much 100+ lbs of fuel over the rear tires can do for traction. And get rid of the PSS’s. Even with tread, they’re probably heat cycled to death. If you want to hook anything like an AWD car, get the biggest stickiest tire you can fit... you don’t need Cup 2’s, you just need a good R-Compound tire. PS4S’s even in 305’s will only get you so far... you will still have traction issues.

This is very true. I have 305 width tires in the rear on my coupe and even with my bone stock non-S C63 I blow the tires off at launch if I don't modulate the throttle.

i'm debating 295 vs 305 and figured 265s would be more suitable than stock width.

I am running 275/35/19 up front. The rears are 305/30/19. I had 255 on the front before and I think the 275 closes the wheel gap nicely and looks good. The ride and performance on the street has been good as well. Although you may want to opt for the 265 width if you plan to track the car.

I thought you cannot do a burnout with this car. And temp was around 19C. I had TC off all the way. The car was still bogging down. I am not into drag racing anymore, I was just trying to make the sure the car can put down the numbers it is supposed to put down.

im thinking about changing the standard super sports to wider PS4S, my car is lowered with spacers so trying to decide on what size to go with.

Hey im looking to upgrade to 275/305 combo in Michelin PS 4S however it seems like the 275/35/19 isnt available anywhere at the moment.
One of the tire shops said they have a used pair of 305/30/20s in the stock PSS with ~85-90 thread. This is a pretty good deal since the price is half but for those who swapped, is the difference between PSS and PS4 big enough for me to hold off and wait till the P4s are back in stock? Thanks.

It just adds unsprung weight for a diminishing return and increases the chance of tramlining in the front. I don't really have traction issues with stock size PS4S anymore, especially with the temps getting back above 70s these days. I just went for my first canyon run this season last weekend, going ***** out and traction wasn't even a concern. It just hooked up nicely and was glued to the road, at least as long as you are not launching the car constantly. But even from a stop with full throttle, it just hooks once the tires have some heat in them. I have a brand new set on the front and about 7/32" left on the rears. The rears always get better starting at about the half wear point. Part of it, though is the superior 9-stage traction control in the FL.

It's still wider. One thing to note is also that AMG slightly stretches the tires on the wheels. This gives better sidewall stability for cornering. Going wider reduces the stretch and the tire rolls more over the sidewall.

does any of that impact an average joe like me who will never be on a track?
ive had the car for 3 years now and for a change i want to get it tuned. the stock tires are uselss on stock power so wouldnt you really need to upsize in this case? i just cant see how the car will even be drivable in an aggressive manner with a tune and stock tire setup?

If you tune, that's a different story. The stock setup is designed for stock power. Obviously if you add more power you can offset the additional weight. The problem with tuning these cars IMO is that you'll get slower in the end, because you just light up the tires. I don't think there's a tire wide enough that fits to give you enough traction. Most tunes add more torque in the low and mid range, and just make the problem worse. What you really want is reduce low to mid range torque and add horsepower at the top end, but that requires larger turbos that are optimized for the top end. Take a look at the CarBahn tune and turbo upgrade and how they reshape the power/torque curve to actually make the car faster and not even more difficult to hook up. They also offer a complete package to upgrade the suspension, wider tires and wheels to cope with the additional power. If I decide to tune mine at some point, that's the direction I'd go.
