I was wrong - K-Mac it is

Front tires 8 months old and 7k miles after lowering...not easily visible when inspecting w/o taking on lift. Just got new P4S today and K-Mac front camber and caster kit next.

I also found that my KW HAS kit settled quite a bit since install 8 months ago. Looks great and drives great but a bit too low now that I may rub when cornering or under load.

Sooo, I was wrong...did not see that excessive edge wear until now. Rears are like new.

Btw, MB replaced front calipers under warranty after I pointed out that clear coat is coming off in big junks. Also, I am on my third roof panel and side molding....🤷‍♂️

Other than that, she goes strong. Trying to find a nice hood next.

Got a BNIB front + rear kit for sale if you’re interested. My go to suspension shop here in the PNW quoted me 16hrs of labor for install + alignment and decided to sell it.

That's so frustrating, especially with so much life left in the tires.

I know it sucks bro, and when things like this go wrong with our cars it pisses you off but glad you've found out your tires were shot instead of having a blow out and potentially causing much more problems for the car or even a crash (God forbid).

Can I ask you, were your wheels properly aligned? How long ago?

Yeah, I was kind of lucky - found it during 5k oil service at dealer and a few other maintenance work. While the car was there (3 weeks to wait for parts) I took the loaner on a 800mile trip, which I otherwise would have taken my car...glad I did not.

Yes, was "aligned" after I lowered it 8 months ago but can't align it properly w/o the camber kit.

PS: I am not really pissed off...I knew it was a good chance this would happen from other peoples experience...I was surprised I did not see it though on my occasional tire check

Yea I've heard about this tyre wear situation. My car goes to my tuner next month for a service so will ask them to look it over when on the hoist. Luckily I have a KMAC suspension place not far from me here in Sydney. Let me know how you go with sourcing a bonnet. I'm after a Carbon fiber one with the window and whilst I see loads online, I cannot seem to get anyone contact me back when I asked questions. Normally businesses from the UAE/Germany etc. So frustrating....

After I lowered mine using Eibach springs, I had my local shop do an alignment check (I now wish I had them do one prior to dropping it). Check out my current reading below. As y’all can see the camber is geared towards track use but is way too aggressive for day to day driving.

About what? That the tires wear so heavy on edge is my doing...lowering the car and having no camber adjustment are not a good mix. Even the stock setup already eats tires more than you normal family cruiser.

You can check the inside of the tires by fully turning the wheels to one direction. Also a way I prolong my tires is buy getting directional tires and when you start to see inside wear, just remount and balance the front tires on the opposite wheels on same axle so the outer shoulder becomes the inner shoulder. My poor mans hack to "double" tire life.

I did just that but still did not see it...I guess I was not looking hard enough as it's just the very outer edge.

Can alignment shops adjust camber to be less negative or is that as far as the car allows?

Our cars don't come with camber adjustment...just toe. Therefore the need to install an aftermarket kit to allow that.

Too bad, I'll just live with having to replace the fronts more often. I got 13k miles out of the stock MPSS before cords started showing.

Are you stock height or lowered? Stock I also got 10-12k but not since I lowered it.

13k is pretty typical for our cars on stock suspension. They already have some negative camber from factory for handling. Just when lowered it gets a bit too much, apparently. You can see my tires riding just on the inner edge and barely used any of the rest. So not much contact with street anymore.
