Should have invested in a RADAR detector and LIDAR blocker for this car.

Absolutely. Wondering if V1 will pony up and upgrade. Video said they make the tech open source...

FDNewbie,
I think what Radenso meant about opening their tech was that they would welcome apps from developers to work with their framework. Their patent on the RAI Theia system is theirs till the patent right runs out. I am sure of that!!!
I'm really glad they went up against the "Big Boys" and probably will be kicking ***! Hopefully when they start selling their product, the bugs will be worked out.

The following is an interesting video explaining a little more about the physical aspect of their new RD. Interesting part about using a turn knob instead of just buttons:

I got a speeding ticket recently in Wisconsin. I foolishly kept speeding up, RD signal on, I stepped on the brakes, signal off, speed up, RD on, brake, and so forth. Again, it was foolish of me. My stupid reasoning, the guy in the BMW was going over a 100 mph, he didn't have an RD, he wasn't slowing down, he would get the ticket. Well, he was long gone by the time the cap caught with me. Hum, I can even make a crazier argument now that I think about it, lol.
Interesting thing is cap pulls me over, and immediately says " I knew you had a radar detector, every time I pressed the trigger, your brake lights came on" He was determined to give me a ticket, silly thing all he could record was 2 mph over. I got a ticket for 72 mph on a 70 mph zone. He wasn't happy. I wasn't going to argue.

We are lucky that our C63s don't offer infrared filtering on our windshields. This comes with many cars, usually in an option package, and will greatly reduce the effectivness of radar detectors to being useless. In this case a small cutout area is usually provided for toll passes but still reduces the sensitivity of the detector.

Given the law in CA of not allowing anything to be attached to the windshield, how do you mount it? Rear-view mirror mount?

My old escort was so noisy I just ended up turning it off because it was always yapping about something it wore me out.

no Laser here but I’ve thought about it. Problem is, haven’t seen it used...it’s rare in PNW and NorCal but not frequent enough for me to fork over the big bucks for it.
Could you share some pics of the install pls? :-)

Suction cup mount right below the mirror. The law is pretty much not enforced. The idea of having a radar detector is not to get pulled over in the first place, but I can always take it down before pulling over. Also, there's a large stereo camera mounted on the windshield right there that's more visible than the radar detector right below it.

For those of you that are looking to mount their RD in a place other than the windshield, A forum member, amg8 has a great solution. He mounted it on the plastic housing by the rearview mirror. I am going that route when I get my car.

Just FYI, the reason why Blendmount doesn't make a rearview mirror mount for newer MBs is because that mirror structure is where many sensors are mounted (against the windshield). Possibly breaking it is a sever several thousand dollar repair (I've heard around $8K). So just a word of caution in terms of hanging something from a housing that's that expensive, and not designed for the extra weight/force.

That's the case for many modern cars though. BMW, Range Rover, Audi etc etc

Just installed the V1 G2, and it actually tucks nicely just to the left of the mirror housing, as close to the headliner as possible.

What I like about this location, is that if you want to be more discrete, or if a cop is coming up behind you, you can shift down the visor slightly so it blocks the light of the detector from the rear.

You can also completely flip the visor forward to hide the detector from side view as well.

Try the new Police Detector at thepolicedetector.com. It uses microwave pattern recognition to detect Police Cars up to a mile away. It's works against all threats including the deadly instant-on radar.
