It's officially no longer required as of sometimes in early 2019. The ultimate source of truth is AMG Germany, and I called them while I was over there doing ED with my 2019. They checked my VIN and confirmed it's no longer required. What's going on with USA dealerships and MBUSA is a different story. Not sure why the messaging hasn't been consistent throughout, and why the English translation in the owner's manual hasn't been updated. The German manual has now a different wording and specifically states that the differential oil change is only required if the window sticker says so. The rest is up to you. There's no harm in performing it. I still decided to do mine. Had to find a dealership in Germany that could squeeze me in while I was traveling through town, but they did it no questions asked, however I had to pay for it as the maintenance plans obviously didn't apply in Germany. Wasn't very expensive, though.

I checked with my local MB dealership, US Corp MB and AMG MB. They all confirmed that 2019+ no longer require the 2,000 miles differential fluid change. I did complain that the printed owners manual still has it as being required and they apologized for the confusion.

I would say that if you have pre-paid maintenance and they cover it may as well do it. If they do not then it isn't needed anymore, per MB.

I have prepaid maintenance and they did not cover it. I went to my independent mechanic and did the service anyway, and it wasn't expensive.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Where in Cali are you? Maybe we can I put together a 'coffee and cars' ride or something similar.

My dealership told me it is no longer required. But the manual said it, so I kinda forced them to do it and it was covered under the maintenance package that I got.
