2014 C63 AMG sunroof shade

Anyone got ideas/options on replacing the roof shade so it's opaque? It's Texas, it's hot, and wife has history of melanoma. Would like a way to have the roof shade be completely opaque rather than the see through material it is today. No clue where to start.

A lot of the guys use a ceramic tint on the glass of the sunroof.

You might get better info if you post in the right forum for your model. Your car is a W204 and not a W205. Windshields and sunroofs generally have very good UVA protection. That's the cancer causing UV rays. Most glass filters out UVB, so generally you don't get sunburn inside a car unless your windows are open. Your bigger worries for your wife should be the side windows. They've been found on Mercedes and BMW to filter much less of the UVB than other brands.

Here's an article from 2016 https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/175436...her-motorists/.

The sunroof is already tinted. Not sure how much it filters out in the W204, but I have the panoramic roof in my C205 and I keep the shade open, because there is far less heat and light coming through than in past cars. In past cars I used to drive with the shade closed at all times, because there was just too much light coming in. This is the first car I enjoy having a sunroof w/o having to block it with the shade at all times.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I'm a mercedes rookie, my first foreign car in 25 years in fact. Tinting and such is a good idea. There's also just the annoyance of light shining in your eyes midday from the top. An opaque fabric would be preferred.

If you want it clear, get clear (80%) ceramic tint.

If you want to cut down on the actual (sun)light, get it tinted (20% - 50%)

Does anyone know anyone in the Los Angeles area who can drop the headliner and tighten the bolts with loctite at a reasonable price?
