Discovered a kind of cool feature on my C63s

While reading the Mercedes AMG supplement manual I discovered a fun feature included on the C63 and C63s. It is called the "Function of Emotion Start". When staring your car, pull up on either one of the gearshift paddles while pushing the Start button. This function increases the idle speed briefly along with opening the exhaust flaps. By doing this, the start-up sound is louder and aggressive. It is definitly a fun performance feature.

Yes, this has been discussed before and most newer V8 AMGs have it. It's sort of a token due to the cars getting quieter overall. I pretty much always start it this way and then immediately open the exhaust and turn off ECO start/stop. It's become my routine, like preparing a plane for take off. You can also select the drive mode before starting the engine. Turn on the ignition and then select the drive mode and then start the engine. This way you can start it in S+ or Race.

No emotion start on the PFL but like superswiss said you can turn on the ignition and start in race mode for a more aggressive start.

In my PFL the start on comfort is louder than when I start on Race for some reason esp after the car warms up but still louder on comfort mode when cold start.

Where did you get that and for how much?? Is it a pre-FL, or FL version?
I'm still waiting to get my C63s coupe next month and trying to figure out a few possible options. Does your tune make the Performance exhaust button obsolete? Can you close the valves with that button??

Pretty disappointed with emotion start tbh...all I can say is my pfl c43 is way louder when started in sport+ mode than my fl c63s with emotion start.

I just had Eurocharged add it to one of my tune files. The exhaust button doesn't do anything when I am on that tune which is my E30 tune. I had him also add a ton of burbles.

My hottest 93 octane tune has more pops and burbles than normal but valves work just like stock.

My other 2 tunes allow normal/stock exhaust sound /function incase I don't want to sound too rowdy.

Thank you. How much was it for the "all flaps open" tune file?

I wouldn't run a warranty just for the sound.

This was just part of my tuning package, I don't know exactly how much I have spent on ECU and TCU tunes but probably 3-4k plus bolt-ons.

my 2016 C63s ED1 doesn't allow you change the drive setting before starting... I press the ignition, go to drive options and nothing can be changed... shame... I tried this in lieu of not having the newer Emotion start option...

What drive options are you talking about? Press ignition, then use the DYNAMIC SELECT toggle in the center console to change the drive mode to your desired mode and then start the engine. Are you saying that doesn't work in your car?

The ignition must be all the way on (2 presses of start button with foot off brakes), with all dash lights lit up, then use mode select to enter Race/S+/S/C

this works, but the faster way is to set individual to all race mode options (I do all except manual shift and stiff suspension), and right after you hit start, flip the switch up once while it’s does it’s quick crank. The valves react quick enough to open by the starting rev.

None, at least on US spec cars. With the doors closed it's actually kinda quiet in the cabin, so I like to start the car with Emotion Start and my door still open in my garage. Wakes up the neighbors, too
