Exhaust note on 2017 C63 S vs 2018 and 2019 C63 S
Hello, I am new to MB world. I have only owned Audis and Maseratis my whole life. I am currently looking to purchase a C205 C63 S. My question is does the 2017 exhaust note sound better than 2018 and up? I have seen a few C63 S reviews and they state how preface lift sounds better and many have sold their newer C63 S and went to 2017 year. Is this true at all? I guess it’s some noise regulation.. not sure if it’s just in the EU or in the states also? I do care more about the sound note than the new steering wheel and digital cockpit but if no difference at all than I would get a 2019 or 2020.

PFL has a growlier mid-range tone and has the og AMG factory burble tune. The FL has a much deeper and bassier tone and will make you work for the pops. Because of the tone difference, the PFL sounds louder when revving it all the way out. I prefer the PFL sound, but the FL is not bad and as my daily driver it was worth the sound difference for the other upgrades to the car.
You really should go test both yourself. Nobody but you will know whether you'll want the trade off.

I am most definitely going to test the both but thank you again for clarifying it I will know what I am getting into prior to making my purchase and making sure that it’s exactly what I want out of it.

For me I wanted the original AMG sound without modding the exhaust or mapping the ECU. But I really liked the FL exterior looks. So I bought a PFL and bought all the genuine FL parts, apart from the front and rear lights. That’s one option you could take?
