I lost my dream car!

So, I've had 2 AMG C63s' inside 2 months. I've been searching for an elusive Iridium Silver sedan that I can't seem to find - a 2019 or later.

The first was a 2020 selenite grey metallic that was bare bones, no lighting, carbon fiber, other packages but it was a good price and near me with a great offer on my last car for trade - I traded it in for about 1k more than I paid so no harm done really but I should have kept it. I was going to make it sick with XPEL Stealth and rims but it would have cost $9k and I didn't want the hassle.

The second was a 2021 polar white very loaded - but I can't stand the color and it also is the white interior which I don't really like. It has the packages and stuff tho (lighting, driving, parking, etc.) - regretted it immediately after i purchased it and will be getting rid of it. Feels like a boat compared to the selenite grey and the non-metallic color really hides the body lines IMO.

Last week I called on a 2020 AMG C63S Silver in Minnesota - loaded with carbon exterior, carbon wheel, carbon trim, performance seats (so hard to find in a sedan) - 92k MSRP car - they were going to do an even trade on my car with what the car cost (it was 85k which again is more than i paid for the white one 2 weeks ago). I knew it was perfect. I had waited 90 mins because I had just found out what the transport costs were and I was at the gym so I figured instead of just texting and saying "I want it let's wrap it now" I said, "ill call you in 90 mins when I get out." -

90 mins go by - I call him and tell him lets do it. He calls me back 2 mins later and said the car sold in the time between he took pictures and quoted me on the transport costs.

The frustration right now is insane.

I've been searching for an iridium silver metallic 2019+ in good condition or new for literally SEVEN months and the perfect car and perfect deal came about and I hesitated!!

I'm soo upset!

So the search continues for a Iridium silver metallic (or selenite grey, brilliant blue metallic with cool rims and stitching).

Hard lesson learned 2x - buy EXACTLY what you want or wait for it.

I wish I could spec a silver one with black/yellow performance seats RIGHT now!!

Don't know if anyone can help me find one but it would be appreciated! I have a 2021 to trade!

Honestly haven't really spent close to E63s money.

I haven't lost a dime and I have a 2021 to trade so I'm still in for roughly the same money.

E63S are REALLY nice but something about the C63S i like more. Plus i'd be spending 20-30k more for an E63S.

Damn really sorry that happened to you -- sucks so much

Same thing happened to me back in July, but ended up finally finding a spec I was happy with a few weeks ago. Hope you're able to find another one, don't give up!

Don't you have to pay tax registering the car?

sounds like as quickly as all this was taking place he may not have even had to register it yet and could still be rolling around on the dealer provided tag.

You only pay tax on the difference.

So the 1st car I paid about 2.5k of sales tax, most recent one I paid $750. I also sold the car for more than I paid for it.

So I'm in for an extremely minimal amount.

If the deal had went through it would have been an even trade with no taxes because there would be no difference.

OP I paid $94k OTD for my absolutely loaded ($140k MSRP) E63S with less than 8k miles on it in February. It's a better car and you can find one.

Nope. I came from an E63s and while more luxurious, the C63s is way more fun to drive.

To the OP, lesson learned, never put the gym before cars!

It may be a better car, and you got a killer deal back then. However, you do realize the used (and new) AMG market has drastically changed in the 6 months since? A similar E63s today would be listed in the $105-110k range, and dealers aren’t budging on their asking price on AMG’s. So he’d be looking at something like $115-120k OTD for a used 2020-2021. A quick search on Cargurus will confirm this.

You are, unfortunately, 90% correct. Most of the market is absolutely on fire and nobody is going to get a deal like I did back then. However, there are examples out there of good deals, you just have to really dig.

I literally could have texted or called from the gym. Just wasn't aggressive on it and thought it would be there in 90 mins. That's not like me either. I'm very assertive. It's just the fact that I've had 2 of them has kind of scared me.

I'm really really pissed as it was my DREAM SPEC!! Silver w/ performance seats (black/grey although I preferred yellow), all the packages, exterior carbon - only thing missing was HUD.

And it was a 1:1 trade so it would have been perfect. I'm guessing most dealerships wouldn't have given my 85k for my 2021 w/ 4k miles.

I'm just soo pissed I likely lost the perfect car.

Sooo pissed.

I must say your story is a bit "confusing" - you are on your second C63s in short order but neither what you really wanted because of some color and equipment options...than your dream comes around...which has it all except yellow stitch interior and HUD. So, would these missing options bother you again and you will look for yet another one because you really want those too? Dream spec but yet some options missing you care about...when you sell cars quickly when they don't have every single option you want. I am not sure what to think about your entire approach and decision making process. Sorry, had to point that out.

Yep totally agree.

So my DREAM spec is iridium silver metallic with performance seats, black/yellow trim, carbon trim, carbon wheel, drivers and lighting package, black cross spokes and HUD.

HUD and the stitching are minor and I knew I wanted the car. I just for whatever reason, waited 90 mins and the car was gone instead of just saying "send me the deposit link lets do it."

Definitely have been an idiot with these purchases. I convinced myself into something I didn't want twice. The timing was weird. The 1st one was right before my wife was having a baby so I didn't want to deal with travel and it was the only one in the area that was a good price (if i sunk $10k into it for the cross-spokes and XPEL stelath it would have been sick but that money would be a sunk cost). 2nd one - was RIGHT after AMG announced no more V8s and everything skyrocketed, and I got a basically new $88k MSRP car for $82k and made a $1k profit on my car. Comparable cars are $88k now

My next car will be from the factory or EXACTLY (within reason) what I want.

Now i know what I want and fortunately I have a good trade so it shouldn't hurt me financially.

Better hop on this one fast

Looks like it checks most of your boxes. 3200 miles for $76

Can't trade-in since it's a private sale but just sell yours to MB or Carvana or something

I've inquired about that one - the person never got back to me so I assume it's sold. But agreed, it's perfect - has a mod tho.

I don't know what it would be like financing with private party but I would 100% buy it if possible.

That car must be long gone… his last update in the description was 06/08. In today’s market he’d be getting close to MSRP in a private sale.
