Smooth Power Flash Tuner Stage 1 software for W205 Mercedes-AMG
Features: The smooth power flash tuner can upload your stock file for safe keeping, read and clear faults. It can receive software updates from your PC emailed to you by CarBahn. These files can be free updates or increased performance tunes that to match hardware upgrades you purchase from CarBahn. The software comes with a two-year product warranty.
again not looking for crazy gains I currently just have Weistecs high flow filters* I just think if its this tune is reliable its a bang for the buck on price. haha
I have been running the stage 1 carbahn tune on my 17 c63s for roughly a year now. I definitely enjoy it as it adds the boost needed without really harming the car. I previously had another tune that was a little louder and more violent at higher RPMs. I was having issues with the old tune which brought me to the carbahn tune.
Quite interested in Carbahn's Stage 1 tune. Steve Dinan has obviously been in the racing engine & performance modification game for a long time. The fact that they even offer an engine warranty (albeit an additional cost) "seems" like a testament to their confidence in offering a safe tune to the consumer market for the M177.
What I'm curious about (while I cross shop other offerings) is how "tame" is this tune in comparison to others on the market (i.e. Velos, DME, Kirkland Hans)?
Perhaps I've missed it - is there an option or upgrade path to "Stage 2" for those that opt for downpipes down the road?

Good question on if it can be? I don't see why not as you have the choice to buy the flash tuner and load tunes yourself? obviously tunes given by CarBahn or your own tuner.
Steve got into manufacturing suspension parts and pieces. After going through four (4!) Powerdyne superchargers for an e36 M3, I managed to corner him at a dog&pony show years ago here in Houston. When I told him of the problems I had had, I was told "Yeah. They were pieces of $hiite". It cost me $7500 for the original kit which was installed by their lead BMW mechanic. Since that day in 1996, I never looked at anything Steve makes or sells.

I have to agree.. my M3 lightweight got all messed up with Dinan mods, regardless of what warranty etc, they never delivered on anything they said... I ended up basically selling the shell of the car to someone , as they destroyed the engine and trans.
I wouldnt put anything in my cars these days from Steve at all !!
After my meeting with Steve, I called his people in California. I was told for $4,000 more, they would put me into a Vortex SC. So, I'm thinking I paid $6,000 for the original kit plus $1500 for the installation. Now I need to drop another $4,000. That didn't include the cost of the R&R to fix an issue that should have been covered under their warranty.
The issue was the Powerdyne SC's are a sealed unit. Steve drilled holes along the edge of the unit and then riveted some fine mesh chicken wire over the holes to cool the ceramic bearings. After only a thousand miles the internal belt would stretch causing considerable and very embarrassing noise at idle.
Ive had the stage 1 tune for 6 to 8 months, with the warranty for piece of mind
Thus far, no issues. Car runs smooth like its stock, until I get on it, then its noticeable quicker. Mostly mid and upper end gains. I also have the Modal Works intake and I love the way my 18 C63 sounds. They suggested that I leave the stock DP and exhaust, which I now think is the right call
