I thought id make a thread just logging my track days for anyone else that would be interested in tracking their c63's or AMG vehicles. I've only gone twice so far but its been a blast doing so and I highly encourage others to go and see what the cars can do and also to test your skills furthermost.
Feel free to add whatever you'd like pictures, track events and track times
I'll start off with my recent event: Dog House Garage @ Chuckwalla Valley Speedway on 10.8.21
Session 1: 2:30.807
Session 2: 2:22.183
Session 3: 2:18.105
Session 4: 2:17.379 (Fastest time so far)
My friend Jd was running great times with his M6 and another. buddy of mine with his M3 the same around 2:12's but they have far more experience than I do as I just got into the sport from them pushing me to join them at a past event and now I'm hooked lol
My car has 101k miles on it haha engine is strong (up until it went into limp mode recently tho)..
(They slapped a BMW magnet logo to "improve" my lap times LMFAO)
Pictures of the event:

Did you do anything to prepare the car for track day? Also, did your car go into limp mode at the track?
BTW, what is the yellow thing in your passenger side lower grille?
yeah I prepped by replacing the brake fluid with ATE 200, used hawk performance 5.0 pads, went with a wider tire setup.
the car was in limp mode during this track day due to my muffler delete that was done incorrectly:/ the right exhaust flap was hitting a bad weld spot which was fixed and now I have full power now.
the yellow thing is a gps tracking to time the laps

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. And I’m really digging that black E63 M6! 😁 I finally saw another one in the wild after almost a 2 year hiatus… it was a burgundy 2010. An older 70’s guy was driving around his 90+ year old mom in it. I thought that was the coolest thing!

You won’t regret it if you find one that’s been taken care of.
It really is a unique, raw unfiltered BMW driving experience. I’ve owned mine for over 6 years and decided I’m probably never going to part with it. It’s in superb condition with just 48k on the clock and plenty of life left. They’re finally getting some well deserved attention as more enthusiasts are realizing how special these cars are. Prices have been on a steady rise the past couple of years and supply is dwindling. It’s getting much harder to find low mileage, well maintained examples. So if you’re considering one, I wouldn’t wait too long as the selection is ever shrinking.

Nice! Yeah hopefully soon or at least an f80. My friend who own ACA Autowerks in Lake Elsinore has 2 M's an M5 & M6 well over 200k on the motors and damn do they run strong still. The M6 pictured is his track car lol that one is past 180k forsure. He says do the bearing/journal change and fix the vanos issue and those engines last forever lol

That's awesome! The vanos issues were mostly in the pre-LCI models (aka PFL in the C63 world). BMW upgraded the durability in later LCI years. But rod bearings are a must, as these S85 motors are ticking time bombs if they're not changed out. I run regular Blackstone reports and they come out squeaky clean with every 3.5k dealer oil change. However, those aren't exactly 100% reliable so I'll probably be swapping mine when I get closer to 60-65k. Once the bearings/vanos PM is done, these engines are bullet proof. Can you ask your friend at what mileage he did his at?
The prices of the rod bearings job has skyrocketed the past couple of years. It used to be that you could get the entire job done for around $2-3k. It's more than double that now at almost every shop at least here in the Houston area. Prices of parts are still very reasonable, but the shops are charging a hefty premium on the 11-13 hours of labor.
Has anyone gutted there C63? if so about home much did you shed approximately? would it be worth it since our cars weight isn't nowhere near the light side..

Streets of Willow 9/18/22 Hosted by ExtremeSpeedTrackEvents (Instagram) First time at Streets I ended the 3rd session with a 1:40.897 Tons of room for improvement im still learning! haha
I had major wear that went unnoticed on my front left tire.. I had to end the day during the second season also, while installing the track pads my rear passenger side electronic brake seized so took awhile to release the parking brake on that side.. luckily I just had to unplug it for it to do so.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTING TRACK DAY THIS WAS...
I HAD MAJOR WEAR THAT WENT UNNOTICED ON MY FRONT LEFT TIRE..
I HAD TO END THE DAY DURING THE SECOND SEASON
THAT’S RIGHT- REASON BEING “OEM” THERE IS NO FRONT CAMBER (OR CASTER) AND NO REAR CAMBER ADJUSTMENT (only Front & Rear basic Toe “directional” adjustment).
TRACK DAYS - Camber necessary adjustment to “dramatically reduce understeer” allowing to hit those corner apexes every time and go deeper into the corners with increased Traction and Braking response. In the pursuit of front row of the grid lap times.
OR DAY TO DAY COMMUTING - Allowing to change / adjust settings to resolve costly, premature excessive inner edge tire wear.
C63’S’ SEDAN, WAGON, COUPE FRONT: CAMBER (ONLY) 503316-1i $345(Both Sides)
Less then cost of 1 hi-performance tire. FIT WITHOUT NEED FOR ARM REMOVAL !
CAMBER (& CASTER) the entire 4 front highest wearing bushings along with improving brake and steering response. #503316K $480
REAR SUSPENSION:
C63’S’ Sedan, Wagon CAMBER (& EXTRA TOE) #502226K $480
C63’S’ Coupe CAMBER (& EXTRA TOE) #502326-1K $480 (Rear also fit without need for arm removal)
Spoiler
Resolve Costly, Premature, Excess Edge Tire Wear - Or Track days dial in extra Neg Camber (and track width). OEM ONLY BASIC TOE - “directional” adjustment (new car industry’s best kept secret)
BOLT-ON / NO MODS FRONT CAMBER & CASTER. REAR CAMBER (& EXTRA TOE) KITS TO SUIT VIRTUALLY EVERY MODEL MERCEDES BENZ 1968 to 2023
K-MAC UNIQUE PATENTED DESIGN PROVIDES PRECISE SINGLE WRENCH ADJUSTMENT. Replacing at the same time the 4 front & rear highest wearing bushings. Unlike adjustable upper arms the design also allows to retain “important clearance” top of tire to outer fender. Along with ultimate adjustment - under load (direct on alignment rack).
FINALLY ALLOWING TO FIX IT RIGHT THE 1st. TIME - Day to day commuting encountering high cambered roads with costly premature “passenger side” edge wear or wheel squat through load carrying or lowering. Fitting wide profile tires or now - having the capability of “ongoing adjustment” to cater for curb knock damage. Along with ability to dial in extra Neg. Camber adjustment for TRACK DAYS!
We have the experience of manufacturing "performance bushings" longer than anyone else (1964). It shows with the unique "Caster" bushes - designed to also significantly improve brake and steering response. Unlike other brands K-MAC replace the soft rubber, oil and air voided OEM bushes with special "Mono ball / Self centering" bushes. The design having more then twice the load bearing, impact area and allowing arms to still travel through their required suspension arcs without binding, loading up.
While C63’S’ REAR ‘S’ COUPE: #502326-1K Camber & “Extra” Toe $480(Both Sides)
Featuring both “Ease” of adjustment and “Range” of adjustment. Fit without need for arm removal.
‘S’ Coupe Model (only) you can purchase offset shims but only provide minuscule 3.5mm camber change. WHILE K-MAC DESIGN PROVIDES SERIOUS ADJUSTMENT - TO FIX IT RIGHT THE 1st. TIME - “WITH MORE THEN 4 TIMES” THE ADJUSTMENT RANGE and it is precise single wrench - “Accurately” (direct on alignment rack - under load). Also includes “extra Toe adjustment” to compensate for Camber change.
ALSO MANUFACTURED FOR C63’S’ (All Models)
#503316-2J Camber & Caster $380 (Both Sides)
FRONT UPPER ‘A’ ARMS Inner Bushings. Advantage of retaining the existing OEM hi-strength forged alloy arms - not replacing with welded, fabricated arms. Unlike above lower arm adjusters does reduce clearance top of tire to outer fender when wanting to resolve excess inner edge wear. Mainly recommend for Track days and max Neg. Camber in the pursuit of front row of the grid lap times ! Can fit without need for arm removal.
#502226-3M C63’S’ COUPE(ONLY) CAMBER & “Extra” Toe $595 (Both Sides).
REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS - Turnbuckle adjustment. Chromoly steel. Same as above front upper ’A’ arms does reduce important clearance top of tire to outer fender when wanting to resolve excess inner edge tire wear. Recommend therefore only if “extra Neg Camber” needed to gain fender clearance.
#502226-1M C63’S’ SEDAN & WAGON CAMBER & “Extra” Toe $595 (Both Sides)
REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS. Same features / specs as above C63’S’ Coupe.
#502628-1J C63’S’ COUPE (ONLY) REAR UPRATED BUSHINGS $380 For the remaining ‘4’ rear multi link arms that contain rubber mounts. Less rear end flex, twitch, loss of traction. Especially when applying power to lane change / overtake.
#502628K C63’S’ SEDAN & WAGON REAR UPRATED BUSHINGS $480 FOR THE ‘6’ Rear Multi link arms that contain rubber mounts.
Same features as above C63 ’S’ Coupe.

Without a doubt, the K-MAC camber kit was one of my best bang for the buck mods I did….if you plan to track your car, get this kit. If you just want a bit more performance on the street, get this kit – Kurt.”
