C63 Tire Question

I’m aware the main tires used are Michelin PS4… I have a full stage 2 550 whp/700 tq and still spin substantially.

Anyone running Toyo R888R or cup 2 if so what size?

Get pilot sport 4s all seasons they have silica in them and will grip when temps are under 70. All the corvette owners complained of zero traction in tenps under 60 so they developed this tire for the c8 corvette and it comes stock with these. You still won't hook up in first but second gear will grab.

Yes, temperature is important. The more track focused the tire is, the more heat you need to get in them before they grip fully. The PS4S compared to the stock PSS does much better at lower temps, but it still needs to be warmed up for full grip. The Cup 2 or Toyo requires even more heat in them to grip, and they don't do well in the wet.

I went through 2 different tires on my car in less than a year to find something that grips in colder temps and the 4s all seasons blew me away. Now if you live in Florida get the regular 4s but anywhere the temps drop under 60 try the all seasons. They are on my car now and it's 60 degrees out today and I have full traction in second gear and I'm ptg tuned.

FWIW, I'm in San Antonio TX and run the PS4S' on my car. I also have trouble hooking under 50mph even when it's hot out, but that changes once the tires really warm up after a few pulls. I'm stage 1 (538whp/593wtq).

Heavily modified C63S AMG here. I’ve run the gambit with tires. Always come back to Michelin PS4S. Would stick with those and call it a day. Don’t use all season tires on a car like this.

These are not your typical all season tires they are specifically made for the c8 vette and can get 1g of lateral acceleration.

I second that. I got the All Season 4 on my C63s and they are pretty awesome. Being in NY, and I like to drive all year round so these are perfect for me. I used to have AS3+ and they were good but these AS4 are supposed to be better.
I haven’t driven the AS4 in snow yet but the AS3+ did really well in the snow and also rain.

Just to add, for the coupe you can now get the Star BMW variant of the PS4S for the rear. This variant has a compound that's closer to the Cup 2, specifically made for the new M3/4. Below is a video that compares them to the standard PS4S. The fronts are now also available in AMG spec (MO1). This is probably what I'm going for next time.

Hey gang - for the W205 sedan, what’s the best tire size for rears? I assume I can’t run 285-30-20. Thanks in advance!

Watch the video I posted. He explains the difference between the standard 4S and the BMW Star 4S. The BMW 4S has a different compound that's similar to the Cup 2. I don't know what the differences between the AMG version and the standard version are, but likely also differences in the compound and construction. Each car manufacturer works with the tire manufacturers to optimize the tires for their cars.
