Sport and Sport+ mode for C63s feels different after a recent shock/strut change

Recently had the rear struts replaced after leakage was discovered in one of them. Since the replacement, I've noticed the driving experience has changed when switching between different modes. In the past when you switch from Comfort to Sport+, you immediately feel the vehicle "tighten up" and come alive. Now after toggling back and forth between C and S+, there is no change at all in terms of how the vehicle feels. No change in how the suspension feels, only the engine cylinders activate. Do you guys think there is an issue with how the electronics were re-installed during the replacement that might be the cause of this issue, or is this normal after a strut/shock change?

It hasn't been done properly. Who installed it for you?

Sounds like they installed equipment for a vanilla C63 and not the S model.... True story: I had bought a 2009 GT500KR online. When I received it the rear was really bouncy. Turns out the rear shocks were replaced with 'vanilla' shocks and not the higher performance KR versions. They were forced to buy me the entire suspension kit for the KR from which I only used the new/correct shocks for the rear. The rest was never used..

I see you have a 2019. In the FL, there isn't much of a difference in the suspension between C, S and S+ on decent roads and if you are just driving straight mostly. The suspension remains fairly compliant even in S+. This is part of the retuning of the chassis in the FL, and its overall more comfortable ride. Your dampers may have simply malfunctioned before. The difference only becomes apparent when you start tossing it into corners, or at higher speeds, then S+ is much tighter and has much better body control, and S is in between. I still remember the first time I put my coupe in S+. It was on smooth German roads, and I felt absolutely no difference until I started throwing it into corners, and then it became very different. I actually like this a lot. I always criticized adaptive suspensions that got stiff the moment you put them into a sportier setting even when driving moderately. There's no need for that. A good adaptive suspension remains compliant even in its sportiest setting, but has excellent body control when cornering.

Thank you guys for the replies. I will continue to look into it. I did indeed test it out again and discovered that the ride dynamics are fine, as superswiss mentioned, you can only feel the difference when cornering or on uneven roads at speed. Also changing the shocks shouldn't affect the suspension.

Now there's another problem. I now hear a very distant "ringing" sound whenever I brake, or drive over uneven surfaces. It's so quiet you can't really hear it unless you search for it. The sound doesn't sound mechanical, it's more of an electrical noise similar to morse code whenever it occurs. It can only be heard when sitting in the cabin, and not from outside. I wonder what could be causing this? This sound only started appearing after I replaced the struts.

Ah... the infamous submarine noise aka "Unknown noise mad me". Read how it was fixed here Help! UNKNOWN noise mad me!

You'll need to read that topic, all of your woes are due to the Bilstein Damptronic module. Not sure why this has all of a sudden happened after the "install" but sounds like you need to have a word with the installer. They've let you down mate 👎

I got it checked at the dealer, it's this exact problem. Will have it replaced during my next maintenance, and it'll be fully covered by warranty.
