Looking to get a tune, asking for opinions/suggestions
I have been owning my stock C63 (not S) 2016 for about 1.5 years and my a** is itching to get a tune
I would first like to mention that it is my daily car, I do not want to keep it forever (maybe until the end of the year) and that I hate and cant physically stand fumes, they make me dizzy
With all these mentions, I've been thinking of:
Stage 1 - Should I do any other upgrades like intake or change other parts?
Stage 2 - with high flow downpipes (suggestions?) but on this one I am still not sure if I am going to have a smell (as mentioned above, it's making me dizzy)
Considering all these, what would you do?
I would gladly appreciate if anyone can give their opinion on this, thank you!
If you decide to do it anyway, definitely don't go with downpipes, since you're going to want to go with a set with high flow catalytic converters on them to minimize fumes. That will run you about another $3,000, plus cost of installation. Since you're going to sell the car in about 6 months, you'll want them drop the transmission to install the downpipes so you can keep the stock set intact so you can either have them reinstalled for the sale, or give them to the next owner.
Doesn't seem worth the hassle and expense to only enjoy it for 6 months.
For a tune, I’d recommend Premier Tuning Group (PTG). At $2k for the ECU tune, you get a stage 1 or 2 tune, fantastic support and you get data logging ability (plus many other features) with their Verstand tuning suite. I’ve heard a bunch of other people have problems (continuous misfires, underpowered, bad support etc) with a few other vendors in the AMG community but have not heard of or experienced that with PTG. If there is any issue post-tune, they’ll resolve it on the fly with you.
And I’m not implying other vendors have sub-par solutions, rather for the price point (and even higher), I don’t think you’re finding a better solution and result.
