This is so ridiculous that it's funny now. All I can do is just laugh at this ****.
At least service B is done and I got 2 new front MP4S tires with an alignment.

When I was picking up my car, talked to this dude who also had a C63 (2020) model.
He had a nice exhaust on it and was telling me how he will buy it out at lease end because its been bullet proof.
I'm like "this is my third time here in less than 2 years for part failures lmao"

Outrageous.

Apologies. It's the pessimist coming out this early in the morning.
The "cannot duplicate issue at this time, customer monitor" does get annoying, I admit.

Quick update:
The car is in the shop again. More problems.
Collision prevention assist does not alarm when about to hit something.
Emergency brakes do not engage when objects behind the car while backing up.

I get ghost triangle warnings when nothing is in front of me, but never warnings when actually about to back up into something or about to hit something.
Emergency brakes also not engaging when alarm sounds (as they have done so in the past)

Here is a fun summary of the car issues since taken ownership in April 2021 with 12 miles on odometer.

Car Issues History.

Problem 1 at 1,280 miles on the Odometer
Thermostat died in the first 3-4 months of the lease. Was repaired under warranty and the car was in the shop for 5 weeks.
9/21/21-10/14/21
24 days in the shop

Problem 2 at 4,620 miles on the Odometer
Exhaust flaps malfunctioned cutting engine power. Engine in limp mode.
Both exhaust flaps assemblies failed and were replaced under warranty. Took 4 weeks.
7/30/22-8/24/22
26 days in the shop

Problem 3 at 7,853 miles on the Odometer
The fuel pump control module died,
Check engine light came on and replaced under warranty.
3/22/23-3/30/23 about 9 days in the shop

Problem 4 at 9,715 miles on the Odometer
Car would not go into reverse. Shift lever error when doing 3 point turns.
Collision detection system goes off without warning.
Emergency auto brakes engage when backing up but no one is there.
8/24/23-8/31/23
8 days in the shop

Problem 5 at 12,168 miles on the Odometer
Engine in limp mode. Car intermittently exhibits a lack of power.
9/29/23-TBD

Collision prevention assist does not alarm when about to hit something.
Emergency brakes do not engage when objects behind the car while backing up.

Total days in shop so far since taken delivery has been 68 days.

On a side note, I have put ps4s on all 4 tires and they are such an excellent tire. Better than OEM tire.
Amazing traction and thread wear. Should have been the tires the car came with.

Sounds like you happened upon a “Friday Car”! Know you were frustrated, but glad they’re sorting it out. Just getting mine out of the shop today for repair relating to thermostat replacement at 10k miles…apparently they didn’t hook a hose back properly and it finally wiggled lose a year later.

ps4s…absolutely!

Oh nice! The thermostat is a whole ordeal. I got a letter in the mail saying they are extending the warranty of the thermostat for 10 years or almost life of the car, don't remember. Its a known issue. They have to take half the engine apart to get to it because its right next to the block.

Yup, got same letter. Seems Mercedes' repair shops aren’t created equal. The closest one near my house never read the TSB and had me riding around with a check engine light for 2 months, Then I got MBUSA involved and they were even less help. Finally called dealer I purchased it from that sells good amount of AMGs and tech knew exactly what the issue was before seeing the car and fixed it. Took about a week as you said, it’s extensive!

A week sounds amazing.
There is only 1 tech in my area who is allowed to work on amgs when it comes to taking the engines apart.
26 days bro.
26 days.

My 21 c63s has had some problems too
1.) Thermostat was replaced at 14k miles for engine light on under warranty.
2.) Rear shocks replaced at 18k for puking oil. Under warranty.
3.) Active brake assist malfunction light, software update under warranty.
4.) suspension arms worn causing excessive camber. Not covered under warranty

I got the letter in the mail for the thermostat extended warranty as well last month. The problem I have now at 28,800 miles is a whistling sound under load light to mid throttle from the engine bay. I have yet to take it in for this. I’m worried it’s a boost leak or one of the turbos going out. Car has full power and doesn’t skip a beat with the noise so I’m very curious.

What's this extended warranty for the thermostat? I haven't gotten any letter for my 2019. What model years is this for?

10 years or 150,000 miles my letter stated for all M177/M178 engines from Benz. I received the letter in December of 2023.

Good to know. Maybe they are still working their way through the list, so I'll keep an eye open.

Update:
I gave the car back to MB. It was a good run but it was time to move on to something else. She only had like 14-15k miles on her after 38 months of ownership.
Going to miss the C63. Best sedan I've ever owned. Gave her a final bath and returned to the dealership.
Here are some farewell pics I took of her. She was such a great machine when not in the shop. Maybe one day I'll pick up another W205.
Solid af on the highways at 100mph. Super comfortably daily driver. Sleeper looks and a hell on wheels when you needed it.
I hope the next person who gets you treats you well.
Thank you for being awesome.

Never drilled my bumper for the front license plate. Cops didn’t see me, I didn’t do it LOL!

P4S tires really made all the difference and transformed this car into a monster.

I would be waaay upside down the way my lease was set up if I bought it out.
Would have to pay the remaining taxes on it.
The residual was over 53%. Would have to pay more to buy out the remainder of the car.
Plus the car has one year of warranty left... and with its constant issues I would need to find a very expensive extended warranty.
Needed to do a brake job. Rears were at 2mm and Fronts at 3-4mm.
Needed to do Service B.
Needed to replace rear tires soon.

So all in all, it would cost me like an additional 57 grand just to buy it out and keep it.
Not worth it.

Gotcha, sad to hear it gave you constant issues, I thought it was reliable (other than the water ingress from the car wash damaging the exhaust actuator was it/forgot the details) hence why I wondered why you didn't buy it out. Reading back I realized you mentioned "it was a great machine when not in the shop" I didn't notice you wrote this now I did.

I see, so what vehicle did you end up getting to replace it?

I went with a V8 but an SUV instead.
I heard this is the last year of production before they go full electric.
Instead of twin turbos it comes with a supercharger and 5 liters of displacement.
Never had a car with a supercharger before. The instant torque at above idle is stupid. It is a very linear power delivery so it feels slower than that AMG push at 4k rpm, but its the same time for 0-60.
AWD helps too. Only downside is its almost 1000 pounds heavier than a sedan. MPGs is very similar to the 63 but the car holds 22 gallons of gas. It gives you the illusion of driving further until you realize your'e at the gas station longer and are paying $25 more per fill up.
Interior is very nice. Its stupid AF loud. Almost juvenile loud especially at low RPMs.
Got a great deal on it at my local dealership. No BS easy in and out within 2 hours of making some calls.
Very few of these around. I have never actually seen one of these on the road before, EVER.
Only downside is it comes with all season tires. I will be putting ps4s on it later but right now don't want to drop 2k on tires when stock ones are brand new.
Very happy with this car. Its no AMG, but its the best thing to replace it with in my opinion.

The forums kept saying how stiff the ride is, but after the C63 this car feels luxuriously comfortable and "soft" lmao.

I'll post some pics and maybe a video of a pull below.

Congrats! Neat spec. Ya the C 63 S certainly wasn't known for having good ride quality, that said, you had the facelift and the pre-facelift ride quality was much worse.

SUVs in general will ride better than sedans especially in pot-hole cities.

Either way though, glad you found the vehicle you like and need. Thanks for updating us on what you ended up getting.

Glad you got a good deal and glad to hear the exhaust sounds good, the more relaxed regulations towards Jaguar, compared to Germany (affecting German car brands) might had helped as well.

I wonder if you can find a way to sell these OEM tires and put those PS4s sooner, as you already know, tires affects the driving experience and pleasure a lot. PS4s just makes a vehicle that much better. Hence why I recommend enjoying them now (buying PS4s) I understand your thinking behind why throw out perfectly new OEM tires already.

Enjoy in good health!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Much appreciated!
I do agree with you on the summer tires 100%. I know they transform a vehicles performance immensely. Especially with a higher center of gravity on this beast. I definitely take tight turns more gingerly hahah.
I posted a few videos in my above post (1 of engine bay) and 2 of me doing a pull at night with 0 traffic. The audio is pretty good for an Iphone, but it does not do the vehicle justice with just how loud the upshifts are.
Hitting that right paddle sounds like your'e activating a chain saw. It has to be so annoying for anyone outside haha. By that upshift your'e in 3rd gear and need to let off the gas anyways because "speed limit" and thats when this thing does a really great pop pop pop from the overflow.
Its difficult to time and do like in the AMG (4-5K rpm liftoff in the C63 always gets that burble pop), but in the Jag, its 3-4k rpm and not every time. Its almost like a surprise each time haha.

Any suggestions where to sell almost brand new tires?
I'll still lurk on these forums as I love AMG but will probably post a lot less.

Who knows, maybe in 3 years the TTV8 will come back to the C class 😉

Cheers.

Hmmm, honestly I don't know where to sell them, but I guess posting it in the market place of Jaguar forums might help. If your tires fit MB vehicles, perhaps identify those and list it in the mbworld market place as well.
