Hey guys

I am new to the MB tuning world and would appreciate your thoughts on the following -

I recently purchased a C63s sedan 2020 MY and would like to run catless downpipes and a Stage 2 ECU tune ? I am a little confused about the benefits of paying the extra $$ for a TCU and CPC tune is this really required ? I dont race and this is a daily car on pump gas only that I would like to be reliable without any headaches for the next 2-3 years.

Thanks

run catless downpipes and a Stage 2 ECU tune

Why would you want to do that ?
Are you tracking it ? if not no need .. zero space in North America to use the the extra speed

have you gone 150 mph yet , probably not

Enjoy the speed and sound you have now , facelifts models are what they are

That seems like quite a dramatic response. I’m not too sure of the US terminology about stage 1/2 tunes. But is there a good reason to enhance the standard performance of a C63S? Absolutely. My Brabus 600 conversion gives much better response through the rev range, much more muscular midrange and thrustier low end. All very evident in every day driving.

Plus, and this is not discussed nearly enough: the extra immediately available thrust means you exploit the chassis much more during normal enthusiastic cornering. Brushing the throttle rotates the car much more effectively, even at low speed, and on high speed curves it’s a different animal in only the best way. With zero suspension changes.

So you don’t need to go above 150 mph, or even 100, to make a tune very worthwhile. I don’t know about a stage 2 specifically and whether that might jeopardise the engine, it will blow the warranty if there is one.

And if you do happen to go over 150, all kinds of extra fun.

Did you do a CPC ? or just ECU ?

On the fence bro for the price point of mods, you might as well go up in the engine range for free
V10
want more linear speed , jump into a Porsche or decent priced R8 ,
Playing Devils Advocate!

C63 Moded = Worn tires, Tranny issues , then questions on here as to why my Engine is tossing Codes.
You know and I know ... there I no reason to hit 150moh unless your tracking it.

I think the Brabus 600 kit is a tuning box, at least it was on my MY17. So no CPC needed, it fools the ECU and the CPC so tune shouldn't deteriorate.

don’t listen to the 1st reply lol. Absolutely needed as it will help the clutch last a little longer. Don’t try to make sense of this as none of this make any financial sense including the c63s itself. You buy this car to have fun. The look, the feels. Very emotional & raw. The trans is holding back a lot of torque that you get from an ecu tune. Dont worry about ecu/tcu tunes. I have stage 2 turbos making 700whp for 40k miles now with no problems

Exactly. Brabus 600 is sold via MB dealers new so you get the peace of mind of warranty but if that isn't important then there are many options. Very worthwhile if you get a good one. It doesn't feel like a tuned engine compared to standard, it feels liberated, kind of normal.

I’m on the same page besides I beat on my car. So do facelift C63’s need cpc in order to do stage 2 and is it safe without it? I wanna do a stage 2 tune with DME on my 2019 C63s Sedan. I just wanna save myself the extra 3-4k lol.

From what I gather CPC just removes/increases the torque limits.

I have a 2020 C63S with Eurocharged stage 2 tune and no CPC or other mods. Been running fine. By the way, I had the tunned CPC with this at well and took it off. It ruined the car's drivability. Im running stock CPC and stage II tune. Love it.
Downpipes you mess with smog and your neighbors, not worth it but that's just an opinion.
