Remote Start - possible to enable??
Hi,
I have a 2017 S205 C63s and I am looking at getting the remote start function enabled.
As far as I have read this should be available on all 2016< models.
I am not 100%, but someone told me this function was not available in Europe due to emissions caused by the "unnecessary" idling.
Living in Norway I obviously get really cold winters and it would be nice to be able to remote start. My previous car (not MB) had a Webasto with remote start built in, and this is the only thing i am missing in my AMG.
I am registered in the MercedesME app and use this for other funcitons, but there is no remote start option there, and not on the actual key fob either.
Does anyone have experience with enabling this? How do i approach this? Is it even possible?
I have explored the options for a Webasto or Eberspacher with remote start, but there is simply not room for it in the engine bay.

No, remote start is not available in European markets. If you could enable it you'd still have to convince the MB servers that your car is located in a region where the feature is available so that it shows up in the app. The available features in Mercedes me are based on your VIN and region, so only the features that are supported by your car and the region you are located in will be available in the app. Remote Start is available here in North America and I don't know where else. But it's not available in Europe, because it's illegal. I just renewed the services for my 2019, but Remote Start is the one service I didn't renew. Never used it. Granted I don't live in a cold climate, but wouldn't use it if I did. Idling a freezing cold engine is about the worst you can do for engine wear. It doesn't warm up quick enough for all the metals to expand, so the engine wears more, and it doesn't warm up anything else such as the transmission. Should start the engine and immediately start driving if you care about your car. I've considered using it on hot summer days to cool down the interior, but also never did. I just lower the windows and open the sunroof from the fob to let the hot air escape and turn on the seat ventilation.
