Dealer Destroyed My PPF and Gashed My Bumper

I have an update. My SA emailed me this morning. Sewell management agreed to foot the entire repair bill which is just north of $1,600. So thankfully I won’t have a minor damage ding on my Carfax. As frustrating and disappointing as this ordeal has been, I do applaud them for stepping up and doing the right thing. While they never admitted fault, my guess is they must’ve done an internal investigation and determined they were indeed at fault, hence the speedy repair approval.
I’m dropping off my car to the body shop tomorrow, if all goes well I should have it back Friday and can then take in to get the PPF redone.

I realize pearl white paint is a 3-stage job, and very difficult to match. The body shop I’m taking it to has decades of experience and is one of the best in Houston. The owner is very confident my car will come out looking immaculate.

I know you love this particular dealer and all but honest question will you still be 100% comfortable leaving your car there in future? Or will you be paranoid about them from now on?

I'm sure this dealer knows exactly who, what, how, when and why this happened judging by their response and they're correcting it.

Going forward, I will likely still take my car there because the next closest MB dealership is really far from me. This one is just 10 minutes from my work. In the future, I'll make sure I do a full walk-around with my SA when leaving my car, take before pictures, and thoroughly inspect my car with my SA present when I pick it up before it leaves their service center.

Lightning rarely strikes twice in these instances, dealers can't make a habit of wrecking customer cars. I'd give this dealer a TON of credit for owning it when OP frankly dropped the ball on what I would consider SOP when leaving and picking my car up from ANYONE.
I'm sure this dealer knows exactly who, what, how, when and why this happened judging by their response and they're correcting it.

I agree, I totally dropped the ball by not inspecting my car before it left their shop. And I totally agree with your second point, they must've found out exactly what happened based on how they responded and addressed the issue. At the same time, they are doing what they're supposed to do, which is pay for the damage they caused.

Thanks, I hope my dealer had something like this in place. Their faculty is state of the art but I don’t remember seeing any such scanning device being used. I also hate that they always unplug my dashcam. But I think most dealers do this for liability reasons as BMW always unplugs my M6’s dashcam as well.

Yes, I will make sure to tell them not to disconnect my cams again in the future. Unfortunately there was a scheduling error and my shop can't take in my car for at least another 2-3 weeks so I'm trying to get a comparable estimate from another shop which can do the job sooner. And unfortunately, there root trans problem occurred again last night, I'll update the other thread .

My SA just texted me this morning. They're claiming it didn't happen going on or off their lifts and want to know what solution I propose. It sounds like they're avoiding claiming responsibility.
By looking at the pics, does anyone have an idea of how this damage may have happened while in their shop? Because I'm 100% certain it wasn't there when I dropped it off and didn't happen between the time I picked it up and discovered the damage.

Off topic but what type of dashcam are you using? I've been wanting one but also don't want wires dangling all over the place. Glad your car is getting taken care of at their expense, still annoying!

I did a ton of research on dashcams prior to purchasing. Mine isn't anything fancy but it's a very good alternative to the more expensive Blackvue cams. It's the Vantrue N4. I've had it installed for over a year without any issues whatsoever. The wires are easy to hide along the interior rubber trim, I power mine with the 12v socket in the passenger footwell which powers on and off automatically with the car.
