Big project

Hey guys.
figured I would share this little project I have which is with fixing a 2017 c63s amg. I bought this car at the auction knowing the engine didn't start. After carefully going over every inch of the car it was clear that the previous owner just dumped water into intake to commit insurance fraud and write off the car. So after trying to spin the engine and sucking water out of few cylinders the final diagnosis was bent rods. So I have to take the engine out to remove oil pan and check if I'm correct.

Removed the front end completely for easy engine pull since I'm doing it at home. Everything up to this point is pretty easy. I have a lot of Tupperware that Is marked to no bolts go missing.

Might be easier to pull the engine but definitely created more work removing and putting it all back. Most engine removal from the top. GL man.

I'm taking the full thing out with tranny and since I don't have a lift it will be done with a hoist. But removing everything wasn't hard.

Just a picture before all the safety precautions were taken. Don't worry.

Fingers crossed this build thread progresses to awesomeness like so many on this forum. Good luck and take your time (shades of “measure twice and cut once”).

Do you plan on doing a full rebuild or just replacing with another engine?

Im going to pull it out and see what exactly is wrong 1st then decide. If i find an affordable engine I might just replace it if not I will rebuild it. Im thinking about getting kittyless DPs while the engine is out.

I would do as much as you can while the engine is out. No time better. Very curious to see your suspicions become a reality on the short block. Please post pictures of the carnage if any!

I deff will. Disconnected the driveshaft and all other components so the engine is ready to come out tomorrow. Excited to see inside of it.

Not a fast turnaround since so much is going on but the oil pan is ready to come off. While the car is dormant I ordered new tires, high flow filters and bunch of maintenance items. Going to be working on my other car this weekend but I'll be sure to take pics when pan drops to see if rods are bent.

Opened up the oil pan and my guess was correct. Got a few bent rods. Will post up some pics later. Going to look at some used engines and price out a rebuild. Does anyone need an engine with bent rods?
