Are there smaller display?

I have the w205 PFL. Car is great to drive and cockpit not so bad. But I very much do not like the main display. The location is very intruding, it is very large, it is usually displaying unwanted informations. Best fix I found is off to favourite bar, sadly it does not even automated off. Only aftermarket replacement I ever found is the even more huge displays.

It is not possible to only remove the display, since 1% of time the information would be needed to see. Does anyone know of any kit with a small screen? Or is it possible to grab a VGA signal to use a standard display type and I can craft by myself.

Thanks for helping.

You're probably the only person who ever wanted a smaller display.... I briefly had a 10.25 inch Android unit and it was large... I couldn't imagine the 12.3 inch version.

That said - without some R&D this isn't going to be easy. The only thing that might work is using the COMAND 5 inch display if it uses an LVDS connection as the 8.3 inch version on our cars do. Then you'd need to 3d print a bracket etc I expect.

It's a lot of work, just dim the display or adjust your seat...

That's an odd request. The COMAND system isn't a general purpose computing device where you can just connect a different monitor to its DisplayPort (VGA, really?) and it will adapt to the monitor's native resolution. The system is designed for the resolution and aspect ratio of the embedded display, so replacing the display with a smaller one that will likely have a different resolution won't be compatible. You have to replace the head unit with something else. There are aftermarket Android head units for example, but as said above, most people want larger screens, and in particular widescreens.

In the PFL, the display is a bit bulky I agree, because of its old style aspect ratio, so it's kinda tall. The FL has a 21:9 widescreen display that is not as tall and blends better into the dashboard, IMO, and has a more modern UI. I keep mine mostly on the navigation screen, so I always see the traffic in my area, which is quite useful information and has saved me many times from being stuck in upcoming congestion.

Thank you for replies every one. The question is really serious, and honda civic display is same problem (late model).., I just like to enjoy the car only and leave TV at home. May be w204 is better for me.

I did find 5" display and got some idea. And yes can not find some way to grab the signal for now. Resolution no problem, I can fix it.

Sorry for unusual question or offending MB ICE designer.
