2018 C63S COUPE
Question W205 C63S SEATBELT NOT RETRACTNG FULLY

Hey guys

Ive got a 2018 C63S Coupe and they driver seat seat belt isn't retracting the last 30% of the belt so it just hangs there.

I was told that the mechanism went bad so I bought a brand new mechanism and had installed last week only to find that it does the SAME DAMN THING!!!

It retracts all the way up until the last 30% just like the old previous mechanism.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks in advance
- Matt

That appears to be a common issue. I had this issue in my 2019 C63S coupe. The mechanism needs to be adjusted. There's an LI for it. Mine is retracting again now after the dealership adjusted it.

Reviving a slightly older thread since I am having this same retracting issue on my 2019 C63 coupe (and it annoys the heck out of me). Is this something a dealer would adjust for free since it is a safety item? My car is out of warranty now but it does look like some convertible C63’s were recalled for a similar issue. There is a NHTSA document detailing some instructions on how to fix (attached below).

I’d prefer to try and hopefully get the dealer to do the work first before I try it and likely mess something up

Best to ask your dealer. My car was still under warranty when I got it fixed. Not sure why that LI is only for the cab, but it's clearly being viewed as a safety item, so chances are they will repair it under goodwill.

I'm having exactly the same issue with my 2019 C63S AMG, which is now 6 years old and has done 20k miles. Never had this issue on any other car I've owned and it is disappointing that the top of the range C class should have an issue like this.

I will contact the dealer, but I've found that UK dealers these days charge for absolutely everything, so even though this type of issue should not happen, it will make them some money!
