C63s Cabriolet, BMW M4, Civic
Battery replacement
Anyone here replaced their main battery them self on a 2017 C63s. The dealer said that the battery replacement require reprogram. The battery is about $300 and labor is about $350. If it doesn’t require reprogram then I’m just gonna do it my self.

You have to register the new battery or the ECU will think it's the old one and the charging counter will continue and draw the wrong amount of voltage.

This is correct, Resetting the starter battery charge throughput counter is what they call it, it is done in the SAM control unit (N/10). if you have an Autel scanner it can be done.

I know local auto shops like O Reilly lets you rent out their scan tool. Gonna ask if it does battery registration. I was planning on getting an Antigravity battery once my battery starts to wear out. Mercedes just charges too much

Most aftermarket scan tools with Bi-Directional control are implementing common reset procedures like battery replacement, control unit adaptations, brake bleeding, TPMS reset and etc. if your lucky the parts stores will have a decent one that can achieve this. I know for a fact most autel scanners like MS906, MK808, or MAXISYS ULTRA can achieve the battery reset. I have an ultra myself and it does mostly all Xentry functions.

As soon as I put the new battery in the car started quicker, start stop became available faster and no settings or tune were lost at all.
Connected the scanner and had no errors.
Varta F21 for start stop vehicles is the OEM replacement for coupe.
