Hi guys
Just been at the dealer for B1 maintenance. They got an engine ECU update, not sure what is involved on the update so I decided not to do it.
Anyone knows or has already gone through this update? Car is 2022
Thanks!

Without any details, I don't know what update this is. The FL has had several ECU updates. I've had about three to address issues such as misfires. They were all for the better. They also improved the transmission. Mine's a 2019. The most recent update I had was in 2023 shortly before my warranty expired to fix a misfire and oil sensor issues. Since then I noticed the engine oil temperature on average is slightly lower. Haven't had any misfire or oil sensor issues since then. Ask for a copy of the IL. That's the document that describes the issue(s) this update is supposed to fix and when it came out.

Not much in the description really. My main concern is about the sound. Would not like to get muted by this update
I got an ECU update at my dealer earlier this year and it got rid of the pops and bangs. Sound never came back and MB weren't able to help. I got downpipes installed a couple months later so it didn't really matter
It is especially true if it was the PTCU update that updates ASSYST PLUS.

That seems to have been largely an issue with the PFL at times, at least based on reports. None of the updates that I had affected the sound of the car one bit. I'm glad it had all those updates. Combined with the new BMW Star marked PS4S and upgraded brakes, my car never felt and drove better than it does now. Just came back from Germany where I drove the new GT 63 coupe. Was initially impressed with it, but after getting back into my C63 with the new tires and all, I found that the new GT doesn't have much on it. A lot of the improvements seem to be in the tires. I'm fairly convinced now that the new Pilot Sport S 5 is largely based on the BMW Star PS4S. Both tires have significantly better steering response and handling than the regular PS4S I had before and especially than the old Pilot Super Sport. It goes to show that tires are the best performance upgrade you can make to a car. It's the only thing that directly affects the interaction between the car and the road.

I just had mine flashed at the dealership. I looked up the Campaign number. It was something to do with the active engine mounts. Ended up being a wasted time for me because I had to get it re-tuned anyways.
I believe the software update may be only for the prefacelift cars. I saw someone on a facebook group who had to do it on his prefacelift. Asked my dealer and there is no update for my car(facelift) to his knowledge.
Interesting. I just got a letter in the mail about this & it mentioned that the main reason for the ECU update was emissions related (something about the cats not being heated at startup)
Yeah I got that same letter last night so I assume that what it was for but before that I typed in that same campaign number into Google and it was something different lol 🤷🏻♂️

Hope you didn't do it..
I just had the 2024 ECU update, and I can confirm that the car drives much better, the throttle response is much sharper too even in comfort mode,
and a lot livelier than my previous 2019 MY I currently have a 2021 MY.
The fuel impeller/delivery system was also replaced as part of a recall campaign.
Prior to the 2024 update, my car would not 'crackle or pop' when in neutral no matter how I tried, however, it now does.
My overall impression is positive.

Hmmh. Gonna have to ask about this update during the next service. I don't see a pending recall for mine, though. Do you have any information on that, such as the campaign number? Have you had any prior updates to the ECU with either your 2019 or 2021? Just trying to gauge this update, given that my 2019 has had several ECU updates already since 2019.

The recall is for 2021-2023 models and just for the fuel impeller. I also had it done on my 2022 recently. Here you have the campaing number

and/or https://www.carfax.com/recall/
or as open in VMI?

I just got my car back after the update. Its a lot more refined at lower speeds & at part throttle. Also I dont see such swings in oil temps. Its noticeably more quiet. Its looking good so far.
