Battery replacement - Plug and play or does it require coding?
Is this required? Is it safe to drive without coding? If I fit it, can MB code it after? - I'm due a service in May so I could get it done then if I can drive the car without issues for a couple months

So immediately after I had the battery replaced maybe 2 years ago or longer( MB Dealership)the Mercedes me connect phone app displayed the battery status as CHARGED and it has stayed that way. Photo below was just taken.

As for dealership pricing, I guess inflated pricing is what you get in areas where competition is spread out. Next dealership a 100 miles away or whatever. I live in an expensive part of the world, but have like 5 dealerships within a 30 miles radius. If one tries to overcharge customers, they just go elsewhere.

With the OEM short-term pro-rated warranty, if a battery does fail prematurely (and it does happen), you'll get no warranty or a partial reimbursement, depending upon when the battery was purchased, assuming you replace it with another of the same batteries. With a 5-year replacement warranty, if it fails within 5 years, you get a new replacement battery at no cost. While I've never needed such a replacement, I do know someone who has had a replacement on an almost 4-year old battery. If it'd been an OEM battery, he'd have paid the full price for a new one.
