Steering wheel replacement
Hi guys

Get any codes or something when you replace your steering wheel with same OEM model? I guessing airbag would trigger some code?

I don't believe so. Airbag is separate. New steering wheels come w/o airbags, so you would transfer the existing airbag to the new steering wheel and if it's the same exact steering wheel no coding or adapters would be required. Should be a straight up replacement.

Only the airbag light will trigger if you don't disconnect the trunk battery. Once you replace your steering wheel yourself it'll be a piece of cake the next time (and the next) because I know you're probably going to try a few nice, new ones like one with dark chrome trim or something haha 😂

The yellow thing was peeling off I cannot live with that 🤣

As it will happen again in the meantime I am getting mine customized with alcantara and matte carbon fibre matching the central console 😎

Its normal having two steering wheels right? Hahahah

Happened to mine as well. Warranty got denied as it's wear and tear. They referred me to an upholstery place that works on Mercedes cars, but I haven't bothered getting it fixed yet. I just live with it. I treat it sort of as a battle scar...haha!.

if you disconnect your battery sometimes the airbag code wont come on. from what iv seen its been a 50/50 on that front

I've changed the wheel on several models now (205 c63 sedan, 207 e550 coupe, 219 cls550, 211 e550) and have never had the airbag light come on, I've just made sure to leave the battery unplugged for a while (around 30 mins) before removing the airbag. Sometimes the main bolt is a pain to remove though, a breaker bar and a friend to hold the wheel while you crank on it will help.

yeah man Iv swapped a couple hundred wheels. It’s for sure a 50/50, I have a scanner so it really doesn’t matter
