Question C63s ceramic brake questions

New to AMG with my '18 C63s Coupe with 44k kilometers / 27k-ish miles on it. Drove it for some road trips in the Eiffel around the Nurburgring, and I'm in LOVE with the V8 and drivetrain coming from a BMW M3 F80. Mine does have carbon ceramic brakes. Brakepads were replaced by the previous owner, although I need to check what make/model they used.

The issue I'm having right now is a squeal on the left-front, and I noticed the 'groove' on the disc. It is very much on the surface and I cannot 'hook' my fingernail on it. Still, it doesn't sit well with me. The wear indicator looks ok-ish, it is still flat. no pits or cavities.
Question(s): any ideas on how? Some debris on the pads? Pads gone bad already? What is the typical choice of this forum for daily brakepads for the ceramic discs?

Any insights are greatly appreciated. I need to find/order an adapter to jack the car up myself.

Welcome to the club. That could potentially be some debris that got caught. The part you circled also looks like a splotch of pad material. Do you have vibrations during braking? There's a recent related thread regarding noise with CCBs. What I don't see on your rotor is a nice layer of pad material, so they don't look like they've been bedded in. Also noticed that your pads seem to have worn unevenly into a wedge towards the caliper. Usually the leading edge can wear faster than the trailing edge, so the leading edge is sometimes chamfered to compensate for that, but I don't think I've seen wedge wear from left to right before.

If you can't feel any indentation with your fingernail (and I'd be surprised if you could), then it's likely just some material deposit/discoloration, possibly from some debris that got between the pad and the rotor or simply some "stuff" that's in the pad. Hopefully they're pads that are correct for the CCB rotors.

The circled circle appears to be the "wear indicator" circle ... WIS has a procedure to use that to check CCB rotor wear -- but don't believe/use it. I've posted a white paper (search the forum) that indicates it's pretty much useless for that purpose. The only wear indicator that's definitive is the Carboteq tool.

There does appear to be some other pad/material deposits on your rotor, but it's uneven (e.g., the streaks in the lower part of your drawn circle). Getting a uniform pad deposit (bedding in) with these CCB rotors is "challenging."

Oh, I also see that the wear on the pad is "skewed." I documented some significant skewed wear on my GTR Pro's front pads (non-linearly worse as the thickness decreased) and had discussions with the AMG specialist for Canada (very knowledgeable and supportive!). We "agreed to disagree" that the skewed wear was "OK." Though I don't like the skewed wear, I will say that the life of the pads is still excellent (and I'm talking on-track life).

Very useful remarks and comments here, thanks. I'll try to clean up any debris. There's no vibration or less brake performance or something.

What pads are you guys you using with CCB? Very curious to hear. I believe i now have the standard AMG ones, but not to impressed.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry if those were my brakes.

I've used both OEM pads (which I believe are Pagid) as well as Pagid pads. The Pagid pads seem to be popular with track-rats.

I finally had the tools to check myself. I didn't find anywhere on the interwebs what pads are used with CCB on a '18 C63S AMG. But here you go! These are indeed Pagids. But have not found where to buy them!?

Pads looked 'okay', are a year old but have seen some heat. There are some chips on it, but nothing that would indicate that line on the rotor as mentioned above.
