Question Going Down A Rabbit Hole.

Hey all, new to the forums here

Let's get right to it, I'm currently going down a rabbit hole of problems and I'm very confused on some things the previous owner did to the car. I'm wondering if I've gotten my VIN swapped or something since I can't find any option'd out C63s models with yellow stitching like I have on mine. I'm also a bit confused on why the previous owner decided to wrap the car with the same color the car's paint is, maybe it was an alternative to PPF prices? My VIN is WDDWJ8HB5KF929604. My mileage is 52k (only put 2k miles on it in the last 4 months), I've owned this car since February and I've been dealing with many problems that the car (I believe) shouldn't been going through. If anyone can help me with telling me why my interior stitching is yellow over the regular white/grey I'd very much appreciate it.

I'm also looking into how / if I can active active speed sign display on my dash (If that's possible)

Damn, I find the speed signs annoying and wish there was some way to turn it off. I know I'm going too fast!

Congratulations, you got a boat.....(bring out another thou$and).

I have seen many folks wrap their car in the color of their car as a protectant.

Yellow stitching was an available interior option. I have it together with the performance seats in mine. Best looking interior IMHO. Yellow has been AMGs contrast color for sport for a while instead of the tired red everybody else uses.

As for the wrap, are you sure it's not PPF? The Magno matte paints are prone to scratching and can't easily be paint matched if they have to be repaired. Can't polish out scratches as with a gloss paint, so it's very common to wrap these with Stealth PPF. Stealth PPF as opposed to regular PPF preserves the matte look. You can even wrap a gloss paint car with Stealth PPF to give it a matte look. Some people have done that.

its for sure a matte black wrap. The carbon mirror caps are wrapped with black aswell, there’s some carbon on the front bumper that’s wrapped over with a black aswell. I did initially think it’s a ppf that’s over the already matte colored paint but it’s really just a black vinyl wrap.

Vinyl wraps are cheaper and do offer some protection, so if one wants to protect the entire car then vinyl can save some money, but it's an odd choice to pay the extra money for the Magno paint just to hide it with a vinyl wrap.

I'm only assuming that they like you said wrapped the car the same color rather than a clear PPF to cut costs. I'm only worried that there's major damage under the wrap if I do decide to remove it. The wrap itself does scratch very easily and is at times terrible to look at.

I've already had to replace the suspension due to leaking shocks. The car was an East coast car and I don't have a build sheet for it.

Here's the list of options your car has. You don't have the driver assistance package (option code 997), so you can't get the speed limit display in the instrument cluster.

Also, East coast has terrible roads. Not surprised the suspension took a beating.

honestly thought my mounts were shot aswell but turns out they weren’t and I spent the money to replace them anyway 😂

I don’t believe I’m used to the ride of the car quite yet so it’s all new to me the way it drives. I’ve driven DCT cars and they were similar but only felt the difference when going slow in a parking lot. Every time I’m in comfort from a stop and press the gas the shifting seems harsher than normal. It’s probably a normal thing but like I said I’m not used to it yet.

Yes, the MCT is more raw than most DCTs. I personally like it a lot. It does need proper throttle modulation to drive it smoothly at low speeds. It has similar manners as a manual transmission compared to most DCTs I drove. Many DCTs are too smooth for me nowadays. I've been driving manual transmissions for over 20 years, so I need to feel connected to the drivetrain which the MCT offers. The MCT can be driven smoothly, but it needs to be warm and as said you have to be conscious of your throttle inputs. It's the first car with a semi-automatic type transmissions that I can get to buck like a manual transmission if I mess up the throttle inputs. It makes the driving experience engaging.

But as I've said before, this car is not a city or commuter car IMO. It can certainly be daily driven, but it's rougher than other street performance cars. I drive it 90% or more in manual mode. It's much more satisfying that way. FWIW, I don't daily drive mine. I don't have a commute and I'm not dependent on a car. I live in a walkable neighborhood and work from home, so I do most of my daily errands on foot and I tend to use my wife's normal VW if I have an errand around town for which I need a car and we generally use her car for mundane trips into the city and such. Just a more sensible car for A to B trips that doesn't require a lot of thinking. The AMG is for the weekend and grand touring. That's what it's made for. It's much happier out on the open road at high speeds and long road trips. I continue to be amazed at how it wafts along at highway speed in Comfort mode on a long journey even on rougher sections of highways. The faster you drive, the smoother it gets, but driving around town can be on the harsh side at times, especially when everything including the tires are cold.

BTW, make sure you use the proper tire pressure. There's a long list on the sticker inside of the fuel door. If you ride around with the pressure listed on the driver's door sticker, you'll have a terrible ride quality. That pressure is the max load pressure meant for when the car is loaded to its gross weight with passengers and cargo and you plan to drive above 155 mph. You wanna use the normal load pressure listed on the fuel door, 33f/32r, unless as said you load up the car with people and lots of cargo.

You really shed some light on other perspectives of driving this car. I really do appreciate the replies. I've been trying to find someone that can explain why I'm feeling a different rawer driving experience. I've also been trying to find someone that can explain why the throttle input at low speeds results in a sort of bucking feeling. I've been replacing and "fixing" items resulting in 7,000 dollars and still haven't seen any change in drive. I can finally start enjoying the car and doing modifications I want to the car rather than worrying about thought "Problems".
