Muffler Delete

Hi I've talked to my mechanic about doing a muffler delete on my c63 w205 2016.
Currently I have a after market valvetronic exhaust (attached in this thread) setup but I heard my friends 2018 c63s with muffler delete on stock amg exhaust which sounds louder and beefier.

Both my mechanic and my friend have told me that I will loose power when straight piping my car because cutting the mufflers does something - not entirely sure but he said a emulator is needed to tell the car there is mufflers on the car.

Also on current setup, stage 2 tune I shoot flames, I've attached a picture a quick picture of the flames but they are huge when they come haha. Is this because of the valvetronic exhaust or because of the tune? If I was to straight pipe with AMG exhaust would flames still come or is the AMG exhaust restrictive ?

Could someone please provide me more info?

Thank you.

The flames is from the tune, a exhaust will not affect your car making flames or not. I only have the primary cats in my car, I got a secondary cat delete and the AWE track exhaust which is basically a muffler delete and slightly larger diameter pipes. Your mechanic is somewhat correct, you will lose some low end torque/HP because the mufflers help create some back pressure, and with them gone, you will not have that pressure. The difference is very very negligible and will not make a difference though. You will not feel the loss in power and I'm sure when you race you shift at redline instead of 1500rpm

not 100% correct. Back pressure is a thing for NA engines only. No need to worry abt that with turbocharged cars.

ps when i had my c63s i did secondary cat delete plus awe track exhaust which is a muffler delete. I wasnt a huge fan because of the drone and after some time I put in the mufflers back. I would rather get downpipes than do a muffler delete imo.

@Hx12 Back pressure on a Turbocharged engine is not good. HERE is a quick article. Like the article says, the best exhaust for a turbocharged car would be no exhaust whatsoever because that would be the freest flowing possible. If you cut two holes in your hood and just used a couple of gently upward curved elbows off the back of your turbos that would be the "best" exhaust for power. Unfortunately though, we have to funnel the heat somewhere. If you are going for the best sound and power then a "straight pipe" exhaust with no muffler whatsoever is as good as you can get. Similarly... no intake tubes whatsoever, and no air filters, is also the "best" set up for turbos. Of course this doesn't work well for street-driven cars that are prone to ingesting dust and debris.

Here's a photo of a "free flowing" turbo set up:
