I've been a Mercedes customer for over 10 years now. As my 4th car lease was up 4 days ago. Someone finally contacted me from my dealer to ask me what I was going to do. Unaware, that was lease was up, I was shocked to see that Mercedes was pressuring me to take a decision on what I wanted to do. If I didn't either return the car or sign a lease extension, that it would affect my credit for default of payment... (???) There is nothing in the Mercedes line-up at this time that compares to my current vehicle (GLE550 V8) besides the 2018 bodied GLE63. I don't want to commit to a long lease for the old body knowing the new GLE63s will be coming out in the next year. Not to mention that the old entertainment system is quite out dated. So I say fine, I will keep my truck for another year, no problem. They say fine, you can do that but we will charge you 300$ more a month... I'm like excuse me? They said, because I put a down payment to lower my monthly payments in the beginning that they would not apply if I extended my lease. I said that's the dumbest thing I ever heard. I also told them I've done it twice before without any problems whatsoever. They said yes, that's because you had another car on order and you were waiting for it so they were able to do that. What a crock of garbage. I would like to order you a car, but you don't have it available for me yet. I am willing to wait for it by re-leasing what is basically a 3 year old used car for the same payments for a year in an attempt to wait for the new car to become available... ANYONE know what I should do with this??? I mean, i am being bullied to the point where I'm just going to say F*** it. heres my keys. and when my other Merc lease is over with, here, have those one's too...

This is a common problem with model change years, when such changes are significant.

My wife ran in to the EXACTLY the same problem. She had a 2016 GLE63 that she LOVED - but the lease expired at 3 years and they wanted the car back. She didn't want to sign on for a 3 year lease on an "old model", so we were stuck! Mercedes Financial offered for us to extend her lease for about $500 per month MORE than what we were paying on it already!

We had a great dealer/owner, though, and he offered us a short term, 1 year lease on a new 2019 GLC63S until we can get the new GLE 63S. He even bargained down with Mercedes Financial so that we got a really good lease rate for the year.

So - she is driving a GLC63 for a year. And she HATES it! It's a like a cheap go-cart on steroids and is fast as hell......but when you consider that a Platinum Escalade is $10k cheaper, the Escalade is a WAY nicer car than the GLC. I am also quite frankly shocked at how they cheaped out on the car design as well. Not a fan at all. It's not even in the same Universe of quality design and construction as the GLE 63s.

what MBFS said is pretty well true. Your down payment is associated with the eventual calculation of the lease payment as based on the # of yrs of your lease. Once the orig. term is completed, MBFS will simply recalculate as if you are going to lease it for another 12 months as residual would have dropped as well.

MBFS would have mailed you a letter at least 90 days before your lease end and ou would have to bring the car in for inspection. Perhaps, you have put the letter aside and have forgotten all about it.

In the end, you are the one have to set the course on what you want to do, if you don't do anything, then MBFS will repossess the car and will bill you later for all the costs associated with this and your credit could be affected as a result.

I just picked up a 1997 E320 for my daughter to learn on. 160 k on it. Seems like a good car.

 

I was lucky to find one. As far as I know, it's the only one in the area. I've only seen two out in the wild, even in town, one of which my friend acquired after I found mine... he lives in TMR. I'm in Saint-Lazare.

What part of town you in currently? I moved off island in 2015. Would be a pleasure to see your beautiful wagon as well.

I live downtown, about a block away from Berri metro...thank god I have an indoor garage because parking outside in this area is not recommended...

I am good for a meet anytime. It would be cool to trade info about MB related stuff in Mtl, like where do you take your car, I have a great mechanic...where can we get mods and/upgrades etc...
I try to stay away from MB dealers, if possible. They're crooks.

All right, cool. I have two young kids so I don't have a ton of extra free time, but certainly if and when I'm free, I'd love to get together with other MB enthusiasts and trade info and stories, especially those on how to avoid the stealership.

For what it's worth, I trust my car with Momentum Motorsport in Kirkland for service and repairs. For mods and upgrades, 191 Motorsport in Bois des Filion has a good rep, better than say VAG Motorsport, from what I can tell. All depends on what you want to do with your car. Before stepping into the MB world, I was an Audi guy, that went to Rombotis Tuning; loved them. Not a lot shops specialize in Mercedes in the area. I haven't found one yet anyway.
