Discounts on custom ordered vehicles

Any Canadians having luck with discounts on custom orders? I remember when ordering our E450 last year, every dealership in Calgary said they wouldn’t discount a custom ordered vehicle.

Meanwhile down South it seems from what I read on here that a lot of people are easily able to get 7-10% off MSRP easily.

Hi,
I got a carcost canada report on the 2020 GLC43 Coupe and with that info went in to the dealership with a good idea of what I wanted to pay leaving them a little and made them an offer and didn't budge and was willing to walk out. The retail cost on the car with (freight $2595.00) and GST (5%) is $84509.25. The doc fee $495.00, Air conditioning tax $100.00, Tire disposal fee $20.00-5 tires, Registration fee $25.00, AMVIC fee $6.25, Nitrogen $99.00 They wouldn't remove this...tried! So, with fee's $85,254.50 I paid $78,250.00 all in. so, about 8.25% off. Also, I think we are getting a much better deal on these cars in Canada based on if you take US retail price of this car times 1.32 exchange rate. That's also why I think you see bigger discounts on MB in USA as I think they have a bigger margin to work with at dealer level.

That’s interesting, I never really had that mentality when negotiating where I was willing to walk away. I think with my next lease I’ll follow your advice and be more willing to walk away and use the CarCostCanada or Unhaggle reports to get them to budge next time. My next car is likely the GLE 450 or GLC63 S but that will be 2 years from now. Also, did you finance or lease the vehicle?

We usually just buy our vehicles outright.
