I've stayed at most of the big casinos at one time or another except the Wynn. I like the Paris, Venetian and New York New York. The view of the strip from the Rio is pretty nice and the package price is pretty good. My mother lives in Vegas, which is really the reason for this trip. And, of course, some quality time with my wife of 30 years.
All the rooms at the Rio are suites.

Had a couple Christmas Parties this weekend. I was originally going to smoke the Nica Rustica that I just got in but ended up going with Padron 3k, Padron 1926 #9 and Padron 1926 #1 instead.

Your mother lives in Las Vegas? I honestly do not know how anyone could live there and not go broke lol. Better your mother then mine! My mother had never been and she told it is because she would be able to control herself from the shopping and gambling! Keep your credit card away from the wife

Jon, I have one of these cigars that was given to me by Carlito Fuente Jr. himself several years ago. It has some very nice plume on it now and has been in my humidor for about 6 years. I just can't bring myself to smoking it because it is so special. You can also see my Promethus box from 2004. The presentation has improved since then. I purchased this box to share with friends on my 50th birthday in 2006. We smoked about half of them and I am saving the rest for my 60th birthday coming up in 2016. The box is number 240 of 500 in 2004. I believe this was the inaugural year for these.

But there is something special about an aged Opus. I was fortunate to buy an Opus collection from a gentlemen that was over 10yrs old...surprisingly the Double Coronas and No. 2's were fantastic. Most cigars after 10yrs old flavor and strength fade to the point you might as well be smoking a stick off the ground but these are still tremendous in flavor. A testament to the strength they had when they were young.

In 2007 I went to England for ten days just to herf with friends for the last days before smoking was banned in the pubs over there. We herfed every night in a couple pubs in Falmouth. The group included about 20 guys from all over Europe. I was the only one from the states. I had a fantastic time and one my friends over there gave me a box of cuban Romeo's dated in the late 1960's. I wondered if a cigar with that much age would have any flavor? The cigars were mild for sure, but oh so good.
I shared a box of Don Carlos #2's and box of Padron 1964's with the group. They had never had either and were apprehensive about anything that wasn't cuban. They loved them both and I ended up sending over a couple more boxes after I returned home.

Damn nippy out here, if I do say so myself! Hahaha...We've received record snowfall for the season so far and more is predicted this coming weekend. But I am Vegas-bound and then off to LA to see family and friends. Are you going to be in town over the holidays or off to some exotic destination?! I'll hit you up when I get into town....
