I want to change my HID's?
I want to change my HID's to something a little more bluer.....my CL is a 2000 and the bulbs are more whitish-blue, and after 4 years, are a little dull I assume as opposed to when they were new. My question is, what bulb does the CL use, and can anyone recommend a good item?

You can check with Hella. There is a lot of crap out there that can actually cause damage to the car. You can easily cause overheating, damage to the HID system, even melting of the wires. Be very careful. Hella is a decent company. www.hellausa.com

That is why I had the little guy hitting the other. I do not want blue bulbs...I wanted something a little bluer..such as a 6K Phillips Ultinon kit.

i know exactly what you want and myself and many board members have done this. this is not an autozone ricer bulb we are talking about.
first, our cars came equipped with 4300k xenon bulbs which as you know have that bright white color with a slight blue hue. first i had 6000k's and then upgraded to the 8000k's. phillips makes a 6000k bulb (the Philips 6000K Ultinons/Cool Power Xenon bulb) and that was the reasoning in upgrading to the 6000 and bot the 8000 for me, i wanted name brand bulbs. they also cost me $280 for the pair from www.suvlights.com
they were cool and the loss of light (you do loose light the higher kelvin you go) was minimal. after a while i started looking at the 8000k's and figured to try them out. i couldnt find any name brand ones so i went with a set from ebay (search 8000k bulbs) and they ran me around $100. i put them in and i love them. they look great. only thing with the 8000k's is that you def do lose light but living in nyc with all the street lights i dont find it to be a problem. my xenons def stand out and DO NOT by any means look like some clear bulb that was painted blue/purple so when lit resembles xenon.

So you are basically saying you lose light but you like the "look" better? Is there any advantage of going higher Kelvin? Or are you just losing light output and that is all? You know the bulb really can affect the draw from the HID system. I have heard some bad stories.... Are you not worried about something being damaged? I am not being sarcastic, I am really asking....

BrooklynBenz, always has the good info, good looking out. I know a guy here where I live who I would bet has the 8k because they are very noticeable and are royal blue colored. I was told Phillips does not make any more than 6k, which is probably why you could not find them anywhere. I am ever curious to see what the 10k would look like on the road...but not sure if the loss of light is worth it. I think I am going to go for the 6K and see what I think from there. I would think the 4300k to 6k light loss would be minimal. I figured the 4300 to 8k would be noticeable, but as you said, you are in the city and wouldn't notice.

I dont see how there is any additional load on any of the components. If there was, Im sure they would have a different plug so you couldnt use it. There are D2S and D2R bulbs. The non projector type headlights use D2R bulbs. Just go on ebay, and pick up any set of the appropriate bulbs for your car and switch themout. I have done this on two cars so far with absolutely no ill effects.

By "running lamps" do you mean side marker, turn signal,parking, or standing lamps?

I think he meant by the running light is the city lights by the hi beam lens.
if so, then they are W6W, or in US you can use BA9s (one of the pin is not offset as original BA9x), but the BA9s will fit with a little wiggle. notice also, if you get the LEDs (I bought the 5 LEDs ones) and the error code WILL show on the dash. I asked my technicia to simply turn off the message.

I still cant find out which kind of bulbs are by the Hi Beams? The little ones in the high beam housing that run anytime the headlights are on? If I just take them out will I get an error? I was thinking of just going without them.

I bought the h6w's for the standing lamps..."the little wedge beside the high beam" ..However, it was the incorrect bulb?!? It ended up being some sort of wedge?? anyone know what type it could be??
