Here are some pics of my 2001 CL600. I purchased it pre-owned from a private dealer for $50K flat. On top of that, I spent $2K for a 2-year, 60,000 mile, no-nonsense, cover-everything warranty. The car had about 28,000 miles on it. These are some pics of it in the condition I purchased it....

I've done some cosmetic upgrades since I've purchased the car, including a slight tint on the windows (they did the rear in one piece, perfectly), and upgrading to the current-style tail lamps.

I've also added 19" rims, staggered 8.5" in front and 9.5" in the rear. The tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's at 245/40 front and 275/35 rear.

Thanks to Mik at Mik-Box.com, I was able to integrate my Motorola V600 into the COMAND system.

That's where the car stands as of now. I'll revert to the OEM AMG rims and Pilot all-season tires come October or November when there's a possibility of snow. Meantime, I'll enjoy the larger, stickier, and yeah a little rougher wheel/tire combo.

Later this month I'll be upgrading the ECU with RENNtech through a Group Buy that AMG2GO has set up for us on the forums. (Reach out to him if your interested.)

V, it looks great man... but I am telling you... it needs to drop an inch. My car looks a lot better since I dropped it that one inch... and I go back to stock whenever I want with the dash switch. In fact I drive most of the time with it up high as the ride is a bit better. But on smooth roads, or if I park it, I just lower it back down. It looks nice sitting parked low.

The policy is called "Total Protection Plan" and it's administered by a company called Prizm Administrative Solutions. The guy I bought my car from is a friend of mine, and he in turn is friends with the local director for the warranty, who's been in the business for 17 years. I paid $2,000 because my friend and I worked in some side business involving other vehicles. So just to be clear, the plan itself is actually about $2,600 for the two-year all-inclusive that I purchased, and that's before NY tax. It covers literally everything you'd want and expect it to, including the motor, transmission, hydrolics, electronics, suspension, etc. etc. All the big ticket items are covered for sure. 24-hour roadside assist is standard, and they pay for a tow, plus food and lodging if you have a breakdown away from home. The obvious things like brakes are not included. And there's a $100 deductible.

Figuring it's a grand anytime you go to the dealership to get something fixed or replaced, this warranty should easily pay for itself. If you want more info (that's all I've got at hand), shoot me a PM.

Thanks - I bought the car in March, did the Mik-Box in April, tint in May, wheels in June, and tail lamps in July. August's treat is the RENNtech ECU upgrade. :v

I got a great deal on the car itself, so I basically spent the money I didn't spend on the car, well... on the car!

If we ever get together, I'll have to give you a pair of "silver coated" amber signal bulbs. Gets rid of that amber tint on the top of the headlamps.

V, the car looks 5 years newer with the mods. Before it looked kinda old... and ugly.... could have been mistaken for a C230.... or even a 190E.... Now? well.... it almost looks like a CL65. :p

Hey AMG2GO - I'd forgotten that you'd replied already. Actually I think you were the first! LOL, but you were talkin' about dropping it a bit, right? Well get this - the car did that on its own. Frigin ABC pretty much gave out under a stress test at the dealership and it dropped like an inch and a half literally overnight! Unrelated, I know, but thought the timing was laughable. I'll put more about the problem in the ABC light thread.

this is ridiculous. i dont mind the heat really, but i cant stand the humidity. just got home and put all AC's on full blast and im ready to pass out waiting for them to cool the cribo down.

what part of long island are you from? i dont go out there much but i happened to be out there last week at the old westbury country club for a golf tournament, the course was really nice.
