CL600 RPM Increase Before Car Moves
Picked up my '03 CL600 last week and I love it.
Question: When I first start out it seems that when applying gas the tachometer increases before the car starts to move. It almost seems like a stick shift car in first gear, the RPM's increase with gas pedal pressure and then the clutch is let out. I get the same results in reverse.
Is this normal?
Thanks

You may have bigger issues than what an oil change will usually do. There is just no way that can happen (if you are describing it correctly) without the trans being damaged somehow. It may be low on fluid, but if it is, thats not so good either.
Does it do this at shift points? Is it solid through gear changes? Does it do it more uphill than on a straightaway?

The shifts through all the gears feel very solid. I don't feel any slipping at all and the car runs great.
It's hard to describe other then the way I've described it above.
One more try...when applying gas softly from a dead stop, the RPM's increase (to about 1200) and the car seems to lag somewhat before moving. I think I have to drive another CL600 to compare it. I've driven a friends Masarati with a clutchless manual and it seems to start from a dead stop in a similar manner.
I'll make an appoinment with my M/B dealer to have it checked out.

things with and without wheels
Do you have a switch for winter and summer driving?
if it's in winter mode than the car is in 2nd when you start moving , it never goes into 1st to prevent wheel spin and it will feel like what you are describing

My world is right again. I had the transmission switch on "C" for comfort that starts the car in 2nd gear. By putting the switch to "S" for sport the problem has dissappeared.
Thank you Robert G.
