Where you placed the sensor is exactly where my Distronic radar unit sits. Hows the performance?

All of them, as much as I can...
Neat install

Looks good but don't you get distracted because they're too far apart? I placed mine inside the binnacle right above the 80 mph mark with the "on" led in the middle. It's directly in front and you look at the spot where you need to check speed as it goes off. How does the laser jammer work in there? I put mine directly under the license plate, looks like an EZ pass transponder, although the reviews say they don't really work.

Note: Please don't take this as a "mine's better than yours" thing as some guys here get sensitive. Just 1 man's 2 cents and an alternative.

thanks,

well since the l.e.d's are so bright it doesnt really matter that they are on the side of the cluster. I didnt really feel like drilling into the cluster and taking the whole thing apart. But my dad is very happy w/the install and thats all that matters. i would be nicer if we did take it apart but we just didnt wanna deal with it. We havent encounterd anything w/the laser diffuser yet but w/my ZR3 Shifter it definately has caught some cops w/their lasers and the cops look down at their gun and are like wtf.........

not really cause they get alot of false alarms w/the laser signal since they have to get a good shot of the car other wise the detection on their part is no good.

Good job CLK22, and thanks for the heads up on the ZR3 Shifter. I didn't even know it existed. I've been complacent with my K40, augmented by a V1 on the dash. I just googled it out and looked at the reviews and it looks like it works. Whew! steep prices, though. I have yet to see the K40 laser unit work in my car. They don't usually use laser here in NY, precisely because of what you say, that the cops get a lot of flak and it doesn't always hold up in court.
How is the ZR3 install? Can you post pics on that? Can the unit be hidden well? It ay be worth the investment.

Thanks

HOw much have you found the laser jammer for mayb i can get you a better price on it. The install would be difficult on a cl and probably a lot easier on a clk(w208). THe ZR3 Shifter even works threw mesh cause i have a lorinser DTM bumper and the mesh is painted silver so it works threw taht and has come in very hany!

$499.95

Give or take a dollar...$500 I guess, is not much if you add up potential tickets. My cop friends here say they don't like the laser because it gives them cramps as they tense up trying to hold it steady and aiming at a moving target. Lazy bastids! Whereas the radar sits or on the window sill.
Also with Laser, the beam gets even more jittery the farther the target...

my friend has the k40 installed in his girlfriend's brand new Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Friggin' thing costs $2500 for parts and install?? Sound right?

Anyways, he was driving the Range to pick his girl from the airport, had the detector turned off cuz it was annoying him with all the beeping. sure enough, gets a ticket in the strictest part of Virginia. He went to court last week, his lawyer got him off from jail time and got to keep his license (no suspension) BUT had to pay $1000 fine. I think he said he was doing 65 in a 45.

He shoulda left the damn thing on!! feel bad for him...

CLK22, how long does the install take? i want to get it in my clk but i dont want to pay for the install. I see they have a bluetooth version. any info on it?

thanks

before you get the K40 check this site out:
http://www.radardetector.net/index.php
also
http://www.speedzones.com/

also indepedent lidar jammer review site:
http://www.kc8unj.com/radar/guysoflidar/

the top 3 are ZR3 Blinder and Lidatek but there is a new jammer coming in the market within the next few months called the AL6 (antilaser 6) according to the reviews it's supposed to blow everythin away . . . just something to think about

Get the ZR3 it is by far the best from my experience. THe install took me a day about 15hours in the CL deciding on how everything was gonna be set up and soldering all the wires together and runnig everything and making a bracket for the diffuser. I have the ZR3 and k40 radar in my car and it took 4-5hours cause i took off the bumper to install the radar sensor and 2 laser sensors in the front. i have no info on the blue tooth version. but hardwired is definatley better cause u dont know wat could happen w/the signal inbetween the blue tooth part.

Disheartening to read the reviews on those links provided, but thanks.

K40 is basically at the bottom of the heap! Oh well, at least mine came with the car when I got it. I always augment it with the Valentine1 on a real road trip.
