Windows...ALL auto up & auto down

I was looking at the video I just received from my '01 CL600's previous owner. In its description of climate controls it refers to pressing and holding either the air filter or recirculation button to close & open all windows and sunroof at the same time. I went out and tried it and it did not work. Have any of you used this function? Is there a trick to make it operate?

Regards,
Ed

Works on my 2000 S500 Sedan

You can open/close everything by holding the button in until the windows start closing, then you release the button.

You can also open everything incl sunroof by holding down "unlock" button on remote while aiming IR at small window on door handle. Once windows start moving, removing finger from key stops their travel.

In a "normal" scenario however, in closing the windows, this leaves the recirc "off" as indicated by the little red diode being "on" in the button. Simply press it once more and the recirc is back to normal and the windows should all be shut.

Looks like I am resurrecting old posts today. I tried both of these tricks on my '04 CL55 and neither worked. Anyone know any way to auto roll down all windows at once, either from the outside or inside?

I still cannot seem to make it work from inside the car, but I did get the keyfob technique to work, but it does so only on the driver side. When I first tried it earlier today I was on the passenger side, and got nothing.

Yes this is an old post.
I went to the service center about 9 months ago and they changed the HVAC controls. Some time after that I asked about the all up/down feature, they said that when they changed the controls the feature did not come with the newer control unit. So my guess is that they discontinued that type of control feature after '02 or so.

Man, these cars change so much year to year - at least concerning the secret menus, secret functions etc. Someone should set up a wiki where we can have all the different secret controls based on model year, COMMAND software version number etc.

I had the head unit replaced,a nd the new one doesn't have cassette! Normally not a huge issue, but I often listen to books-on-tape on long trips, and a lot of 'em are still "on tape." I can't get that all-up-or-down feature to work either.

Peteski, I think there is an optional tape unit that is mounted in the glove box. You may want to check with the dealer. It's mentioned in my manual. It says that this unit connects to the Aux port. You may be back to listening to books on tape sooner than you think. Hope this helps.

Thnaks, I'll check it out - if I ever get my car back! Our local dealer can't seem to ever get the right parts in for various things. Currently it's the door assist: first visit - 2 hours "Haven't got it narrowed down yet." 2nd visit - two more hours "Not exactly sure, but M-B thinks it's a modulator." Scheduled for last Friday, get a call "Part didn't come in." Monday appointment - call about 2PM "Sorry, but the wrong part came in; want to just leave the car here?" The ironic thing? I don't even care that much, but Ithought "Damn it, it's supposed to work!" So I wanted it fixed under warranty...
