600 K/N filter

I was really bored today so I decided to put in the K/N filters that I got a couple months ago from Summit. The design of the filter does not fit the air box of the car. The part number does match the application guide on the K/N website.

I remember someone else on here put the K/N's in their 600......just wondering which part number they used?!

I'm not a real big fan of K&N filters. They flow great for a while, but they get clogged really fast. This means that if you don't clean them often, you're better off with a factory filter. I used to use K&Ns on my Audi S6, but I think the oil from the filters messed up the mass air flow sensor (oil gets on the hot wire sensor). I don't know how they are now, but some tuners used to recommend against them. Just FYI.

i had to cut the filter to make it fit. i called K&N and they told me to get the model make and year of the car. the filter part # i got and the part numbers of both the filter and the airbox from MB. I thought it was too much trouble so i just rigged it. It works perfectly.

midrange a noticeable pick up. throttle response seemed a bit more sensitive. i didnt notice the exhaust note as the eisenmann race is pretty throaty as is.

Giggalo...Thanks for replying. I thought I was losing my mind and I remembered you said you had installed them. I guess I will return the filters to K/N. I did put some heat wrap around the intake tubes though (I had it left over from my S55).

i took a permament marker and traced the old onto the new. I then took the new and basically hacked off the extra inch. Its worked great thus far and i havent had any issues. like i said, K&N was NOT helpful in the least. Instead tey wanted me to get this part number and that part number. should'nt they have gotten all this crap BEFORE they produced a filter that really isnt a drop in?

There is a big hole right in the center of the one they list for our cars. What did you do about the hole in the middle of the filter? Which filter did you modify? I don't see any way to modify the ones that were sent to me.

Here is the one that was sent to me and the one that all the K&N dealers list as the correct application.
