2000 CL500 Whats it worth? Wholesale Any issues with a 2000?
Not really in the market. But just came upon a 2000 CL500that may be too good of a deal to pass up.. 56k miles, all original. No AMG package, standard wheels. (which is the only thing I dislike about the car). It has Nav., do they all? Pretty clean car..
I don't know much about the CL's. But I do know, this was the first year for the body change, and nearly a $100k car new... What bugs do 2000's have?
Also, what do you guys think would be a STEAL on this car?? Please no book value.. Whats wholesale(auction) figures on this car?? Anyone? ballpark??
thanks

I have one. It has its issues.
Bugs:
Only big thing is the ABC Pump which I am sure has already been replaced
in the car you are looking at. Mine has 60K Miles now.
Bubbles in the glass at the seals.
Battery drain issues.
Ball joint creak issues.
Check the dash cluster for the recall.
I would say its worth about $ 25K if the body is perfect.
Overall my car is rock solid except for the battery drain thing right now.
4 days parked and she is dead.
Its a great car for a daily driver. Its a big tank and its very comfortable
and great looking. Something about the body style that is just timeless.
Good tip. Put the later tail lights in it. E-Bay for about $ 300.00
and it will look just like a 2006 from the outside.

If you are going to buy a car that has lots of maintenance issues, you should at least buy one that is actually fast and not one that just looks the part. Unless you really love the car, I would not get a CL. The ownership costs are truly high in this car. I've spent over $5,000 on mine in the last 6 months.
I thought about trading my CL600 it in for a CL65 but I'd be passing on a less expensive car for another car with even more potentially expensive problems in the future. However, with all that said, I do love my 600 even with the maintanance issues. The 65 is nice but they are still to expensive to justify use as a daily driver that racks up over $20,000 miles a year.
