$900 for front brakes?
I was noticing noises coming from what appeared to be my brakes. I got them checked out by a local shop and I'm told that I need new front brakes. Ok, not a big deal. But Mercedes tells me that new front brakes cost almost $900 on my car because they will likely need to replace the rotors too. If not, then it will be $285 to just change the pads.
Is $900 plus Tax (so almost $1000) a bit much for front brakes? This seems a bit steep, but I may be wrong. I'm sure they'll tell me that I neeed the rotors changed too, which I'm prepared. Should I just take the car to a local shop to do the job for a few hundred less or just bring the car to the MB dealer and spend the $1000?

OK well my tech works at Silver Star in Queens. If you're interested I can put you in touch with him. I also have an Awesome detailer if your interested in doing that. I just had mine done and it looks great. This guy takes major pride in his work and will make sure your satisfied. He will only charge you 150.00 for your car in & out.

Thank you,
I'm actually more interested in the detailing guy. I want my car to look nice for the summer.

Brake job
AndrewNY,
I replaced my front Rotors & Pads for 500 even. or maybe 475~. Fortunately, my family has a long history with a service facility in town. It is an easy job to complete.
If you have a trusted service provider in your area other than a dealer go there. It is very important that they order the parts from MB dealer. DO NOT use off brand rotors or pads.
Hope this helps.
I do however go to the dealer for major services.
