03/04 cl500 or 03/04 745li
hey guysi know these cars are two different classes because the 745 competes with the s-class but im wondering which one of these loooks nicer on the outside and wont be outdated as quick.. im looking to buy the cl500 because its a mercedes and i think the interior is nicer but after looking at the 745 there exterior styling looks nice and i just dont wanna have an outdated style if i plan to keep the car for the next 4-5 years..

I switched out of my 04 745i (lease ended) to an 06 CL500 last December. I had an 02 CL500 previously and always missed the uniqueness of the vehicle and its classic good looks. Even though the new CL body style is out, the previous model still looks good.
The 7-series body style was refreshed recently (most obvious is the rear deck/lights change), so your 03/04 will look a little different. You also run some risk of the gremlins that have plagued the latest 7-series. My 04 was pretty much faultless and people on the boards claim that 03 is as good. The 03 and earlier 7-series include an extended warranty provided by BMW because of the problems these cars had, so in some ways the 03 is a better deal than the 04.
Both cars have heavy depreciation so you should be able to get a good deal on either one. I enjoyed my 7-series and it drives really well for such a big car, but the CL-series is more unique and at least for now, timeless. IMHO.
