2003 cl600 for $36,500-good/bad?

car is a 2003 cl600 with 45kmi, loaded w/ all options-amg sport, parktronic, keyless, etc. aution price on the 03 cl600 is on the average of $32k w/ an avg of 50kmi, but who knows what kind of condition all those were in and options. car looks good(cant tell of an accident). carfax clean and also checked the vin with my benz dealer-also good. has no warranty, but fletcher jones merc here in las vegas said they woul sell me an 3/36 aftermarket warr. for $3,500. what do you guys think? good/bad? anything else i should check/be weary of? is this going to be a noticable diff from my 02 cl55?

Yes, it will be a huge difference from your old CL. Try about 150 hp and around 200 lb-ft of torque for starters. Get the Evotech upgrade through Adam at Euroelites and you will have supercar performance for peanuts.

Why can't they give you a certified 12 month warranty? I'd assume they bought it at auction since it is not certified? Aren't they a Mercedes dealer?

Will they honor the warranty they are selling you. Will you have to deal with the warranty company or will they handle that? Will they honor the warranty if the company goes belly-up or refund your money? If not to any of those, I'd tell them to take a flying leap.

The initial costs seems low but if it's an auction car it can come with a slew of hidden issues. The ABC is the biggest and most costly of the reoccuring issues with the CL. The other main issues is that the coil packs will fail in a few thousand miles and will cost around $6,000+ to replace both sides. The spark plugs need to be changed at 70,000 miles and cost around $1,500+ to have the dealer change. You asre also guaranteed the intercooler pump will fail soon if it hasn't already done so.

Will the warranty for $3,500 cover the items BlownV8 spoke of?

Please let me know as I want to buy 03 600 from an auction, but only want to buy if I can get a warranty that will actually cover the cost of ABC, coil packs, etc. (not plugs or other maintenance items)...

will let you know on the warr. test drove the car 2nite, what a rocket! i couldn't believe the put you back in your seat thrust feel when i hit the gas from a stop. with the traction button off, it lit up the tires no prob and hit 60 like it was nothing. (CANT IMAGINE WITH ANOTHER 100TQ) the car was clean inside/out with only very minor imperfections(really had to look). the car could use new brakes/tires soon though, and i'm working out a price break for those items needing attention.

4 questions:
1. how can i tell if the coil packs are going bad?
2. the heat exchanger/ ic pump. when i first got into the car and drove it, it was awesome. drove it kinda of hard, let it sit wile running for about 15min drove it back to the house and it just didn't feel as strong/fast as when i first took it out. any ideas/ thoughts on this? temp was about 60deg. could this be heat soak or what????
3. had traction off while driving, felt like it still engaged when i got too much wheel spin. is this normal?
4. are these rearends/trannys tough? can they handle the torque with drag radials an ecu upgrade or even a stock?

lotta questions, but really want as much info as i can before pullin the trigger on this car-thanx,john

For the 600? I know they are cheap for the 55 but I thought they set-up and pump was different. I would have loved to save a $800+ on the intercooler pump I put on my old CL600.

The 600/55/65/32/SLR all use the same pump. The Johnson is an easy swap on all of them.
