Speakers Cut Out

After being parked for an hour where before everything was fine, I got back in the '04 CL55 and the speakers all cut out. Until that is, you turn the dial up pretty far, at which point a horrible distorted version of the radio (Or CD for that matter) comes out from the back speaker(s) or possibly just the sub. It sounds terrible so I do not keep it turned up. The navigation lady still works fine, any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Fantastic, it now works again. I read in an old post that complete lack of sound (not like mine-scratchy sound that instantly cuts in when the volume is past a certain threshold) has been fixed by the ol' restart. A restart fixed mine. Fantastic? Or indicative of something breaking?

Sounds like the factory amplifier could be going out. if you can get to the factory woofer (on the rear deck) and unplug the molex plug from it for about a week, if it doesnt happen again then you probably have a distorted signal that the woofer is sending back to the amp causing it to overload.

Overloaded Amp. Its going into safe mode. You have a short or a Speaker
causing the fault.
